<br />
My friend Tonya (Unruly Quilter) came to visit and left this "doll soup" on my stove at the Quilt Cottage. (I know not the most inspiring name but for now it is all I got!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We did a lot of shopping at the local flea market and now Tonya has more creepy doll parts to play with!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I feel as if I am working on too many projects at once and not making progress with any of them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA49zMsemkDAdCQ-EHn6q0OO38Rv-JgfVNmZleVvFTH5k-iP6jgeR43No4fLqTqaQtqCx-zPMBm3SNBadJSZXVGIuFr8CMK7LO1KgIMtZrA6gz1uuFOEnnShDJ95AyxfXyFrxb/s1600/DSC_1826.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA49zMsemkDAdCQ-EHn6q0OO38Rv-JgfVNmZleVvFTH5k-iP6jgeR43No4fLqTqaQtqCx-zPMBm3SNBadJSZXVGIuFr8CMK7LO1KgIMtZrA6gz1uuFOEnnShDJ95AyxfXyFrxb/s320/DSC_1826.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Additionally my Goldie isn't doing too well. She is getting close to 19 years old and very thin. <br />
<br />
On the up side I did go to a quilter's estate sale and found a entire fat-quarter bundle of what may be my favorite collection ever!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDsIUJ6Fv6VBPlDQlgeXaTqMBsgY1xhMN8KJTeqLNbUL_0T_F2Ecdvt0rKv7mwQz7djly6ZeJkCAJAMiCCprmcB0VFUY-1nwdxaY5_crC1rs1yEnfLNBb7J8ckCsiqzML70b55/s1600/DSC_1832.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDsIUJ6Fv6VBPlDQlgeXaTqMBsgY1xhMN8KJTeqLNbUL_0T_F2Ecdvt0rKv7mwQz7djly6ZeJkCAJAMiCCprmcB0VFUY-1nwdxaY5_crC1rs1yEnfLNBb7J8ckCsiqzML70b55/s320/DSC_1832.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the 1930's Around the World collection from 2005. I've been searching for the Paris fabric for years now! It was only $1 for each fatquarter or $3 a yard! Yes I came home with way too much fabric but I'm not sorry!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-86810916046919823622018-09-27T23:30:00.000+01:002018-09-27T23:30:06.188+01:00An old UFO finished!What may have been the oldest UFO in my quilting room is now a real quilt!<br />

<br />
I started this Baltimore Album quilt in a year long class with Mimi Dietrich back in 1992. I lived in Baltimore so it seemed like the right thing to do!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-ZMWtGLEvNFeQqZjDo5SVjBTrnmiXSMaC4GxLKglk1ZYMbtiRbZD4bqR2k8x3CQPWDKJSioAdwcmuWoTMmtew-S2K9RY78iezzb6_HJVAk2Fzu2FfeXXAqMJO8V0YHbyRe-8k/s1600/DSC_0151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-ZMWtGLEvNFeQqZjDo5SVjBTrnmiXSMaC4GxLKglk1ZYMbtiRbZD4bqR2k8x3CQPWDKJSioAdwcmuWoTMmtew-S2K9RY78iezzb6_HJVAk2Fzu2FfeXXAqMJO8V0YHbyRe-8k/s320/DSC_0151.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyway, over the course of a year my fabric choices changed significantly and after my "real" quilt was finished I had almost a dozen blocks that didn't make the cut. They traveled with me for many years.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjWGF-gIdTwLtWcR87a-nY5t-8lBrEXQOWsNvK2p4WXpdXL3dHQM46_GjyvvHVM394lXhhx3Zb7gpAWTAj6-cfYNAKA3fygqhQKjrAllF9UwmxXD-iOqnnVWUGFZ4T6I89uO1q/s1600/DSC_0152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjWGF-gIdTwLtWcR87a-nY5t-8lBrEXQOWsNvK2p4WXpdXL3dHQM46_GjyvvHVM394lXhhx3Zb7gpAWTAj6-cfYNAKA3fygqhQKjrAllF9UwmxXD-iOqnnVWUGFZ4T6I89uO1q/s320/DSC_0152.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last year when I was packing to move I debated letting them go but instead they went to the top of the "to-do" list! This is hand appliqued, hand and machine pieced, and hand quilted.<br />

<br />
If you ever get a chance to hear her lecture take it! She has great stories and wonderful quilts.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Antique String quilt...</i></div>
For this lecture "From Sublime to ridiculous" Teddy showed antique or vintage quilts ant then a quilt she made that was either inspired by it or used a similar block shape within the quilts.<br />

<i>Teddy quilt...</i></div>
A quilter who sat at my table told me "I don't usually like antique quilt talks but this one was good." I was glad to hear that...and will sit elsewhere next lecture!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-5189405402269315022018-09-24T22:48:00.000+01:002018-09-24T22:48:02.286+01:00Cruise!I'm not sure it is quite the same going on a Caribbean cruise when you live in Florida.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>San Juan...</i></div>
I mean we see water, beaches and palm trees all the time! (and why does that sound like I am complaining...hummm) Anyway, we spent 7 days going from Amber Cove in the DR, to St. Thomas, San Juan, and then Grand Turks. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>St. Thomas</i></div>
All good...not a lot of sewing or quilting but then again no cooking or cleaning!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Now back to reality...my design wall...a zipper Christmas table runner, some grey free pieced background blocks for applique and a couple of random blocks found while folding fabric! The zipper table runner is a good way to use some of the charm packs that seem to be multiplying in the fabric baskets...they are like candy in the checkout lane! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVBTOIydnfXBZO7bC7S1FFKif0uwgp0zmaiIFm5Oim4G5gbeSSkTKlNQYNTebgW-DaZA_gekW6cJ0ywFPlAMDgvuwZPM1PAIh0yWurpG7CEZ8an2Bi6fvcYKcHJzWfpazRoZAn/s1600/DSC_1816.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1064" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVBTOIydnfXBZO7bC7S1FFKif0uwgp0zmaiIFm5Oim4G5gbeSSkTKlNQYNTebgW-DaZA_gekW6cJ0ywFPlAMDgvuwZPM1PAIh0yWurpG7CEZ8an2Bi6fvcYKcHJzWfpazRoZAn/s320/DSC_1816.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
I also have Bonnie Hunter's leader and ender for this year under the needle. I'm using a controlled scrappy fabric selection since my niece asked for a purple and orange quilt. I was surprised just how much of those colors I had in my stash! I now have a very large box of 4-patches and another large box of hst's. I think it may be time to start making more blocks...YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-3180113492519937432018-09-14T21:04:00.000+01:002018-09-14T21:04:04.668+01:00The Quilt House needs a name...So we moved to Florida but my quilting "stuff" didn't fit in the house my husband picked. <br />
Well, first it needed some work...but after some cleaning, painting, tree removal...well, you got the picture. It is now a fully operational quilt studio (and yes, I am channeling Star Wars when I type this....)<br />

<br />
It isn't fancy but I have great light and lots of space. I'll have indoor photos soon. Best of all the Kola table fits, a huge work table is against one window, and I have not one but TWO design walls! I also have one room to store quilts on large racks. I kept the back bedroom as a bedroom so if/when quilt friends visit we have a "clubhouse" and can do sleep-overs!<br />
<br />
It needs a name...quilt house just doesn't seem fun enough! I want to paint a "barn block" and hang it right between the front two windows but think I should know what to call the house first? Any ideas?<br />

We live very close (too close even!) to Renninger's Antique and flea market. It is one of the largest in the state.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I try not to go often as I am still in the process of organizing what I moved down here! But this one caught my husband's eye and while had my back turned he bought it...which is fine by me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisn8TbJYODGJ8aF4haGWxA8Ptjyo9M4w-b2Ln_IhZt2MZknKYTjBjF8Onw0R-_sCE1LxhvDRHhe_bFmHPlNRbnZWyrdDgZRdKiCPgb2xa0ohKQK3ad32HHlVOZEAPm7qZEbSxh/s1600/DSC_1243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisn8TbJYODGJ8aF4haGWxA8Ptjyo9M4w-b2Ln_IhZt2MZknKYTjBjF8Onw0R-_sCE1LxhvDRHhe_bFmHPlNRbnZWyrdDgZRdKiCPgb2xa0ohKQK3ad32HHlVOZEAPm7qZEbSxh/s320/DSC_1243.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Not sure if it was a kit or a pattern. The pink fabric is almost a sateen which makes me think this is circa 1920's. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWaObbGH9t_09XE69Q4ZYqXF0sgsshJasBxoeWSS4n3jXK2wGxCQQcDRQRN7559SbilW_w-7D9e3Lk1tNXHjROQ6VjCewSOTmv-exw0fL-dBmrewZV_HheGo3yyBCO5RCpa6ju/s1600/DSC_1244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWaObbGH9t_09XE69Q4ZYqXF0sgsshJasBxoeWSS4n3jXK2wGxCQQcDRQRN7559SbilW_w-7D9e3Lk1tNXHjROQ6VjCewSOTmv-exw0fL-dBmrewZV_HheGo3yyBCO5RCpa6ju/s320/DSC_1244.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The workmanship is excellent. This is one of those quilts that looks best on a bed! Recently I've just kept is folded over a chair in the spare bedroom. <br />

Lot has happened - the main part being I am now living in Florida!<br />

<i>Pineapple quilt given to me by my quilting buddies in Georgia!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
It was tough leaving Georgia. Lots of quilt friends there. Slowly I am finding my own space here too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvmoLljR16ylb1IGBzIECrevUxNkzY87hftsFvIQA_5GamZ3Myuf8C06_MGbxVdXVW3hGTtkW8R0E6kPwWs8zqi_jX8Q30b6m4wI_T2cPqMtkkZZKZztWJAB6_V1kgJBfGY8To/s1600/DSC_1761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvmoLljR16ylb1IGBzIECrevUxNkzY87hftsFvIQA_5GamZ3Myuf8C06_MGbxVdXVW3hGTtkW8R0E6kPwWs8zqi_jX8Q30b6m4wI_T2cPqMtkkZZKZztWJAB6_V1kgJBfGY8To/s320/DSC_1761.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am living in central Florida not far from Orlando. Lots of orange groves and cattle....yes, cattle! It is very much a ranch and farm area. It is also a very artsy little town. <br />
<br />
<br />YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-7473791198559718952017-08-23T01:03:00.000+01:002017-08-23T01:03:04.730+01:00Multi-Generational Quilt TopSo my husband calls from an estate sale and says there is a quilt top with lots of brown fabrics in the blocks with a light blue floral alternating block. He is not a quilt expert so that is pretty much all I could get out of him. I guessed it might be circa 1870 so told him to splurge the $7...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid4Fc47zEDz5qKmxWW1Os_2T6V7PUeJqfdwEGnyaeAxzTGrqQXaLstadeP-O62gHUzBXeRgYqzyJZqSoVJXOkqtnP-G65N8CD1YFdqJxcfU7isrTyLe7abl158rXKv1KM6O0N-/s1600/DSC_0857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid4Fc47zEDz5qKmxWW1Os_2T6V7PUeJqfdwEGnyaeAxzTGrqQXaLstadeP-O62gHUzBXeRgYqzyJZqSoVJXOkqtnP-G65N8CD1YFdqJxcfU7isrTyLe7abl158rXKv1KM6O0N-/s320/DSC_0857.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, I was half right!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7LqjG8SAcKNj727JosOSutFmYgfaTr00MAjFTFCzFsSa4dpmeQOLHn1UMhC0gFVuwueDkML4cdDN7gRHv2MKYjv_XRK8gSN5r4y4chXxE4vGQccrgDhpgyXq0pTEH3yxhrqED/s1600/DSC_0852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1064" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7LqjG8SAcKNj727JosOSutFmYgfaTr00MAjFTFCzFsSa4dpmeQOLHn1UMhC0gFVuwueDkML4cdDN7gRHv2MKYjv_XRK8gSN5r4y4chXxE4vGQccrgDhpgyXq0pTEH3yxhrqED/s320/DSC_0852.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
The blocks are 19th century but that blue (which I hoped was Lancaster blue) is most definitely not!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4GsAjOiXM68LdIOpP5r6N0NMCo4-wzORc6Izi7Z33DZve9ZjLvhFVQ9TONZDEq9d8jFYMYONkoDaMhMlSLFS-oYuTPA1Rkk9uV-bISsNCtxpG8yQejwhX5bttXVo_LZ7cCB08/s1600/DSC_0855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4GsAjOiXM68LdIOpP5r6N0NMCo4-wzORc6Izi7Z33DZve9ZjLvhFVQ9TONZDEq9d8jFYMYONkoDaMhMlSLFS-oYuTPA1Rkk9uV-bISsNCtxpG8yQejwhX5bttXVo_LZ7cCB08/s320/DSC_0855.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Plus, the blocks are all neatly sewn by hand while the alternating blue blocks were sewn on by machine. Since the fabrics are more than 30 years apart it would be considered multi-generational...even though there is a chance it was all done by the same person.<br />

That was the cabinet I worked on today...it took a long time to pack.<br />
<br />
However I am making progress on the packing front...think my sewing room will be finished by the end of the week!!!<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>small quilt I machine quilted...still have quite a learning curve but getting there!</i></span></div>
I am making miles of binding...have 4 quilts to bind for our show in November and three wallhangings that need binding for the silent auction. Wouldn't it be nice if they all just used the same fabric?! Never works that way..<br />

<br />
Just a few more feet of binding and the Picasso in Paris quilt will be ready for my sister. This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her website. I took her scrappy trip around the world blocks and put them on point. <br />

<br />
My biggest "finish" is my Baltimore Applique leftover top! I started this 25 years ago...vintage before it is even quilted. I was happy to find I had enough of the background fabric to piece a back for the quilt. A friend is going to hand quilt this one for me.<br />
<br />
So perhaps a few more quilts and a couple more days of limiting the number of hours I listen to the news and I'll be back packing up the house again...until then I'm hiding in the quilt studio....YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-40557017335600609132017-07-31T22:40:00.000+01:002017-07-31T22:40:43.622+01:00Jones Treadle Machine - go or no-go?The clear out continues and gets a bit harder with each bag or box packed up for the charity shop...<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Susan Edmondson's booth...always bright and creative!</i></span></div>
The show was up in Columbia S.C. Oddly since it was a sweltering 100 degrees out being inside and looking at quilts seemed like a good thing!<br />
<br />
Now I know it also sounds a bit crazy to be shopping when I am packing to move...<br />

and a couple yards of Phillip Jacobs that will go well in Florida!<br />
<br />
Today it is back to the to-do list! We are having movers do the majority of the packing and moving. After the last two moves however I decided that I will always pack and move my quilt collection myself. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
If I pack a few each day then the van will be full Monday. <br />

<br />
Of course I've been packing a few each day for weeks!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlHJ41iBvClxtlb9Or_9BxzVyZ-69jgs-C1crLEGzSCDbxI6fHv_aILoXsIfciMtGhgCMU_SvD7gcrwrB8A7kOnBa6-qOWf2Ikl5xo_zHQFYgzKFbXT0J_WJ-ggW_rBZ5neULF/s1600/DSC_0707.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlHJ41iBvClxtlb9Or_9BxzVyZ-69jgs-C1crLEGzSCDbxI6fHv_aILoXsIfciMtGhgCMU_SvD7gcrwrB8A7kOnBa6-qOWf2Ikl5xo_zHQFYgzKFbXT0J_WJ-ggW_rBZ5neULF/s320/DSC_0707.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is fun to unfold and look at each quilt before packing. So you can see why this takes so long!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The other big project for the day...getting all the cat hair off of the rugs!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It is a nice sunny day with a bit of a breeze. So good day for getting the fuzz off the rugs then roll them up before Goldie and roll all over them again!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-49905417002974730602017-07-19T21:26:00.000+01:002017-07-19T21:26:18.111+01:00Have to finish something!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Today I decided to sit at the sewing machine and sew for a bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFS-6qwBx8GzbdIzrU34Zkmk04WCxsRLrFodxQ5pQyVQdO1njlmhLBnrbBuk_54rGpSVG0_2DKwmQ9dB-33Hm1KU8aqgnDsgNnkAJWf9SsPMzmlRIbVzhyphenhyphenAHCLrnjnEI6L5Dw8/s1600/DSC_0667.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFS-6qwBx8GzbdIzrU34Zkmk04WCxsRLrFodxQ5pQyVQdO1njlmhLBnrbBuk_54rGpSVG0_2DKwmQ9dB-33Hm1KU8aqgnDsgNnkAJWf9SsPMzmlRIbVzhyphenhyphenAHCLrnjnEI6L5Dw8/s320/DSC_0667.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
All this folding, organizing and packing was just wearing me out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0GBWcl55IEetduh6RTQ73SwveDW6rw8ufVc6wCkSxWr-lcuXRKsT-2qVw4rX9sPGcAkgdUrR_VuU7wGswLyvLJ3TGbj5XB9PuWvKgWfxMAEpGAaglRM-CKqmHXGSTkHszhHpT/s1600/DSC_0661.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0GBWcl55IEetduh6RTQ73SwveDW6rw8ufVc6wCkSxWr-lcuXRKsT-2qVw4rX9sPGcAkgdUrR_VuU7wGswLyvLJ3TGbj5XB9PuWvKgWfxMAEpGAaglRM-CKqmHXGSTkHszhHpT/s320/DSC_0661.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Also I was afraid that if I pack up this leader and ender project from two years ago that it would never be sewn together! So after several hours I almost have a top!<br />
<br />
Did go through some more boxes that leaves me shaking my head...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
like this almost quilt top made from leftover/orphan blocks from my Baltimore Album quilt. I think I took that class in 1993! I think I'm going for a personal record with this....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

and even the blocks from a Bonnie Hunter Mystery (this is only about 10 years old so not ready to finish yet!)<br />

That said, we are making great progress in sorting and packing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ4Wo2ZZ_MZFs-hSiW9P7ClM4QgsqA29urBSNCQS6ledj2V99NRxFIsqblO6myMBwXi2A6wr857WFPtwnM0czbNe8aATo9ejLGvHMz0-aZizwlrE4u-h4N6jwTHPEN6Cv6PH8q/s1600/DSC_0585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ4Wo2ZZ_MZFs-hSiW9P7ClM4QgsqA29urBSNCQS6ledj2V99NRxFIsqblO6myMBwXi2A6wr857WFPtwnM0czbNe8aATo9ejLGvHMz0-aZizwlrE4u-h4N6jwTHPEN6Cv6PH8q/s320/DSC_0585.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to keep an eye on my husband as he would toss anything that he doesn't immediately recognize...like a box of block doesn't have value since it isn't a quilt! Yup...got to keep and eye on him.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghNL1zFhZQFNwRE1k2d5ivPq8xSjpiIszj66f5UCiKCWPmOGsTyFOtj4d2H2BRVCX6uyaXV1STH-LF0JMOS0uyUQ2dih8ZB9q1ZD42N6hQyO08s0_ZCEyD6ca9sOkk_jm734cG/s1600/DSC_0650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1293" data-original-width="1600" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghNL1zFhZQFNwRE1k2d5ivPq8xSjpiIszj66f5UCiKCWPmOGsTyFOtj4d2H2BRVCX6uyaXV1STH-LF0JMOS0uyUQ2dih8ZB9q1ZD42N6hQyO08s0_ZCEyD6ca9sOkk_jm734cG/s320/DSC_0650.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Been gathering lace and wool for this quilt for years and it almost went to the charity shop!</i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span>
Of course I am guilty of trying to finally get rid of a box of record albums that we have hauled around at least 4 moves and never taken out of the box...but I told him I was doing it. That is why the box is back in our hallway...he is "thinking about it."<br />
<br />
But on the bright side I found some scraps of my favorite fabric that I thought was long, long gone....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcn3RHq-uI2Dyq75pqvZE-zDFsRnDjboFgSmWIl9HkASSwEjrujN98vBDEZ-OmUwZr5RVGGW6KxSEJMfOGlKDmbi6i_PgHyd3bf7ODJBzCAIHMXUOsqBm2Sq29a3E0WfsbTmGp/s1600/DSC_0655.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1095" data-original-width="1600" height="219" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcn3RHq-uI2Dyq75pqvZE-zDFsRnDjboFgSmWIl9HkASSwEjrujN98vBDEZ-OmUwZr5RVGGW6KxSEJMfOGlKDmbi6i_PgHyd3bf7ODJBzCAIHMXUOsqBm2Sq29a3E0WfsbTmGp/s320/DSC_0655.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I so wish they would reprint this Paris fabric!<br />

I am also putting aside a few items for the American Quilt Study Auction at this year's seminar in New Hampshire. Not sure yet if I will be able to go but I want to support the organization. I've narrowed down the quilt donation to one of two: the red, white and blue rocky road to kansas in the photo above or the circa 1880 braid quilt below.<br />

The clearing part is almost over. I sold a few pieces of furniture and some other "stuff" to lighten the load. Have a few boxes packed to go to nieces and nephews. After that I'm settling back to my sewing room while my husband tackles the garage!<br />

The most exciting news...Watson is now a therapy dog! He finally passed obedience school and showed his three "skills": if I fall to the ground and do not move he howls to get attention; he will go find my husband on command (my husband has hearing problems so if I need help it isn't like I can just call him! I have to send the small white dog) and finally when a beeper or alarm goes off he demands that either I or my husband goes to it. It took us 3-1/2 years. I think that may be as far as we can go with him!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-76102450110262809442017-06-21T18:19:00.001+01:002017-06-21T18:19:42.316+01:00Catching up...maybe!These fabrics don't look like they belong in my stash...<br />

well, they aren't mine. I'm finishing a quilt for a friend who passed away a couple months ago. The top is complete. Luckily she told another friend that she wanted to piece a strip of these blocks up the back...so I'm piecing the back today.<br />

It is fun to work outside my comfort zone and since it is scrappy I'm happy.<br />

<br />
My other "not-me" project is my guild's donation quilt. We are making the Kaffe Fassett Anniversary quilt with the jars and bowls. It was a kit. Anytime you have a wide variety of folks stitching on one project putting the blocks together is an adventure. Generally we cut the applique backing pieces really large so we can trim down. With a kit there wasn't that option. Luckily there is only a 1/2 variance on both width and height so we will only need to trim a smidge...an activity best done with only one of two quilters and a very large pot of tea.<br />
<br />
Funny story on this project. A block was turned in as finished. When I was pressing the blocks I noticed a needle still in the block. When I pulled the needle I noticed there was thread still attached. Then I noticed about 2 inches of the pot wasn't stitched down yet! Yup...group projects...there is always something....<br />

At some point I'm going to figure out a way to incorporate an antique quilt in one of these sessions!<br />

Start to finish it took about 6 hours...maybe less since I was doing leaders and ender blocks in between.<br />

I pulled some fabric last night to piece a background and with luck should quilt it up this month. This is my "donation" for the guild silent auction table in November.<br />

The weather is hot and steamy here in Georgia. Went outside this morning thinking I could drink my coffee in the garden! Duh...bugs...bugs everywhere! No wonder I have so many Dragonflies here..it is like an all they can eat buffet! Needless to say I had to get back in the house quickly and slather After-bite over both feet! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinN29m_egyNNs0FifWApR7yqWNLxMusTzr4koYDrSS9d1zQ5-L9ZYNHuECqN7lL-DY49lK6Md3w8n5-7OdXUqYDPllmudjoQfok-bNURh-kUrvKkRg-W-U6fAWIns0VXuuNoe2/s1600/DSC_0217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="975" data-original-width="1600" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinN29m_egyNNs0FifWApR7yqWNLxMusTzr4koYDrSS9d1zQ5-L9ZYNHuECqN7lL-DY49lK6Md3w8n5-7OdXUqYDPllmudjoQfok-bNURh-kUrvKkRg-W-U6fAWIns0VXuuNoe2/s320/DSC_0217.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I really wanted to organize a bit but instead I ended up sewing up some blocks to make a baby quilt for the guild's silent auction table. Our show is in November this year so I stand a good chance of having it done in time! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7LI9LV7Np1dU2CqSw2erJZ-wJ-8njdriRPXkGu3ca-Ar545uSuocrwinRUqGjRvvVI_M8JHAbzQ1xfQrbHYBv33zcV9_X2q8oI7hPDqxlYMdQzZQdwcva7-g9ZY24EDepqW53/s1600/DSC_0218.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7LI9LV7Np1dU2CqSw2erJZ-wJ-8njdriRPXkGu3ca-Ar545uSuocrwinRUqGjRvvVI_M8JHAbzQ1xfQrbHYBv33zcV9_X2q8oI7hPDqxlYMdQzZQdwcva7-g9ZY24EDepqW53/s320/DSC_0218.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I rationalized this by saying I was using up some 2-1/2 inch strips instead of just putting them away. It works for me! The pattern is from a Missouri Star U-tube video. It takes four of these stars to make a baby quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvCkRa5AxAJ-pKCds27p6ehSF9p4GDTHAImlMU6jPnMPs57bwskwL_j_C1qVHQuBv03oj7NWsX6NQ6-ggTW3oEREzNutNjdglDktszN8Ei_XNBuqqKZvX-mZqtuewmTgvxcuZP/s1600/DSC_0219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvCkRa5AxAJ-pKCds27p6ehSF9p4GDTHAImlMU6jPnMPs57bwskwL_j_C1qVHQuBv03oj7NWsX6NQ6-ggTW3oEREzNutNjdglDktszN8Ei_XNBuqqKZvX-mZqtuewmTgvxcuZP/s320/DSC_0219.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also dumped out the leader and ender basket to trim up the liberated blocks so they can be used again! I'm close to having enough to put together in a project.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Last week my husband picked up an antique sampler for me at an estate sale. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL3j1Oa6pF9oNZh1_93eXQdUQ6DEwycz7k62p-QLOHMNKGw7LLYkTjdQK5J8FtPGPW-fqK7Iix4jTeqA0bpeA19Tb_92LMjnPEnzBs4jRN7gLs5frIE3nEj5QOVXDr3xO7oIha/s1600/DSC_0117.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL3j1Oa6pF9oNZh1_93eXQdUQ6DEwycz7k62p-QLOHMNKGw7LLYkTjdQK5J8FtPGPW-fqK7Iix4jTeqA0bpeA19Tb_92LMjnPEnzBs4jRN7gLs5frIE3nEj5QOVXDr3xO7oIha/s320/DSC_0117.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It was covered in plastic wrap and stitched to a cardboard backing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB0KzP2dFye0o3VL9jMYYTQmOL_axxpTtznu_CGx9Qq_JQwbGMrHrwKFK1yKjsDuGHHybb6nJnSRfk99IORroOsSNB5kHEDCIpLO_5T9EIX2bs9FsgW-FvGoDpzZzFVBJJGkUD/s1600/DSC_0122.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB0KzP2dFye0o3VL9jMYYTQmOL_axxpTtznu_CGx9Qq_JQwbGMrHrwKFK1yKjsDuGHHybb6nJnSRfk99IORroOsSNB5kHEDCIpLO_5T9EIX2bs9FsgW-FvGoDpzZzFVBJJGkUD/s320/DSC_0122.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It was fun to unwrap and carefully take out the stitches so I could really see what was stitched on the sampler.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW6R_wNh_NkFHFECNJ49_wvb63_huxGluylwJNtaKp_Snp6Ojf_3VU5NdQcwnNwGclT12MKSk_i3omDwjAWo3soxQSq8uHthdkOY5JBSe3J4wDOvWSsYO5LYOc3teeycaL-4dw/s1600/DSC_0120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="956" data-original-width="1018" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW6R_wNh_NkFHFECNJ49_wvb63_huxGluylwJNtaKp_Snp6Ojf_3VU5NdQcwnNwGclT12MKSk_i3omDwjAWo3soxQSq8uHthdkOY5JBSe3J4wDOvWSsYO5LYOc3teeycaL-4dw/s320/DSC_0120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is about 25 inches by 25 inches so a good size sampler! The date is 1847.<br />

Part of the reason I haven't posted was a short trip we took out to Nevada. It wasn't the vacation that caused a long delay it was the MS episode brought on by an absolute travel nightmare with SPIRIT airlines.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjksTOoy5yDD3ny5EfYp1STwGkPGdCcsX2owvh1XgbTeDWt2C5McTLdKUmGY2UPpT07fUILUi8a5eev23jn9cn5z7ltpFm0mMcCButtniNv_g3BzinHwFRCOyvTdzczJQcRUne-/s1600/DSC_9952.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="1600" height="273" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjksTOoy5yDD3ny5EfYp1STwGkPGdCcsX2owvh1XgbTeDWt2C5McTLdKUmGY2UPpT07fUILUi8a5eev23jn9cn5z7ltpFm0mMcCButtniNv_g3BzinHwFRCOyvTdzczJQcRUne-/s320/DSC_9952.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Orange is the MS color...</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></i></div>
Lesson learned: if you hear an airline you are booked with is having issues with employee contract negotiations rebook with another airline. When we heard Spirit was having problems we called only to be told "a judge worked this out today. Just check the news." Sure enough there was a comment from the pilot's union saying they would abide by the Judge's order. The next morning the pilots did not show up for our flight.<br />
<br />
Lesson learned: if a customer service agent tells you to take the refund because they cannot book you on another airline (said there was an email from corporate telling them they had to keep the customers on Spirit flights) take the refund immediately. In Chicago when our second flight was cancelled the supervisor booked us on American Airlines and told us to cancel the reservations we made on our own credit card while inline. You know that didn't work out...we ended up paying for both the AA tickets and the Spirit tickets. <br />
<br />
Lesson learned: discount airlines really mean discount. The callback from a supervisor happened almost 8 hours late at 0150 - that is almost 2 am. And she threatened to close the case if I didn't talk to her right then! Needless to say that was over a week ago. They asked for week to figure things out. That was a week ago today...who knows. Maybe they'll call a few minutes before midnight?!<br />
<br />
That is only the tip of the story...in the end I ended up being so tired from the flights and the waiting and then the many hours on the phone that I had an MS relapse. I was only able to stay one night at my guild retreat and am having to cancel a long list of commitments for the next month.<br />

Today I'll keep with good stuff though - quilt retreat!<br />

<br />
Twice a year we have a 4 day retreat at a local camp. It isn't fancy but it is clean, the food is good and there is lots of space to work in. What more can you ask for? (OK endless cups of coffee and some chocolate...we managed to bring our own!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Today two quilts came back from Patty Lennon, a local longarm quilter who is in my guild.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAku5d63hlTHub-I8g5MQ3l4fTY6xC75uzAikiEyVfuuZnEtBMo0mUYtWDrQwlXZR_jNrwSFqxu0j_UpzjiG3r_4erEzYbNPH8DSGgs7K8fh7kC7E86oMDvuWAWowW5GxfNYsu/s1600/DSC_9799.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAku5d63hlTHub-I8g5MQ3l4fTY6xC75uzAikiEyVfuuZnEtBMo0mUYtWDrQwlXZR_jNrwSFqxu0j_UpzjiG3r_4erEzYbNPH8DSGgs7K8fh7kC7E86oMDvuWAWowW5GxfNYsu/s320/DSC_9799.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
First is a quilt I am making for my sister. I used Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trip Around the World pattern only I put it on point! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw1izDQgbX_VuQDi4NiIWYcYKB8g3cP6ib6LE48Bv5MBR0Pz8wWEHRtMRKYe-0EQFQEvSgcRyoU_aGqxGnkBFKn07UBJ9v_wzuoXTsliVyLSgLRtPyHzp0s8BKN09MVTt7jeiA/s1600/DSC_9797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw1izDQgbX_VuQDi4NiIWYcYKB8g3cP6ib6LE48Bv5MBR0Pz8wWEHRtMRKYe-0EQFQEvSgcRyoU_aGqxGnkBFKn07UBJ9v_wzuoXTsliVyLSgLRtPyHzp0s8BKN09MVTt7jeiA/s320/DSC_9797.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Changes it a bit. I've made at least 4 of the regular so wanted to try something just a bit different!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihGgfvxbKD3jqap8DbBO2mC40qbAF8xyzUSFcjV3ZhekKSj4RTatTNbDKZoM3p1TgpvAsSrRq-KIaRuLGb3Th6R2CCrlPgj-79hybOUsyV-xGYUry5HmbXMwSVLQ-SFkTSkFZE/s1600/DSC_9801.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihGgfvxbKD3jqap8DbBO2mC40qbAF8xyzUSFcjV3ZhekKSj4RTatTNbDKZoM3p1TgpvAsSrRq-KIaRuLGb3Th6R2CCrlPgj-79hybOUsyV-xGYUry5HmbXMwSVLQ-SFkTSkFZE/s320/DSC_9801.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course then I had a table-full of 2-1/2 inch strips from making my sister's quilt-top so I played with another Bonnie pattern...think this one is Carolina Chain? (Can't get to my books right now...)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP0AckaPS_XB8hvVGrvuLwF5rRmqw2oAUJsM1Xv9Gktyf7i3FYZVSrMO4hqKbDE4bi0d-MflDCMO2_lJOFj8gyNdLj5E3C8j6mLsjcaU76t-B2BtIlwApl429DlyWpiXnbUH1l/s1600/DSC_9800.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="249" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP0AckaPS_XB8hvVGrvuLwF5rRmqw2oAUJsM1Xv9Gktyf7i3FYZVSrMO4hqKbDE4bi0d-MflDCMO2_lJOFj8gyNdLj5E3C8j6mLsjcaU76t-B2BtIlwApl429DlyWpiXnbUH1l/s320/DSC_9800.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is really a fun pattern and uses a lot of scraps! Now I just need to make lots of binding! Plus set up my old Bernina...that machine just powers through binding!<br />
<br />
Which is helpful. As I said I can't get to my books...mainly since the MS has crept up on me. I went to the guild bee feeling a bit weak. By the time I got home I could barely make it into the house. Right now I am back to using a walker. It happened that fast! Hoping it turns around just as quickly!<br />

<br />
I was looking for a spinning wheel for my niece and saw a couple listed at a local estate sale. In the end I didn't get either of them. One was way too large and the other I wasn't sure was working properly. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ARhcWz_OIpHdu2UXsRRR_WXqixbkYtqE9G0AuFDOV0wvAGLK8u1PF4qxaNLqcQNB9k97Tq0Rb9JNVsD3iw00a65LiqmCToJ8OHyjXW2rJyFQC23OmHW9rH_te79nGXK-RV0Q/s1600/DSC_9738.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ARhcWz_OIpHdu2UXsRRR_WXqixbkYtqE9G0AuFDOV0wvAGLK8u1PF4qxaNLqcQNB9k97Tq0Rb9JNVsD3iw00a65LiqmCToJ8OHyjXW2rJyFQC23OmHW9rH_te79nGXK-RV0Q/s320/DSC_9738.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I did get some fun little things for me...silver spoons with delft shoes on the bottom (yes, I have a thing for Delft...started with a tea set my cousin gave me when I was 5 years old!), a fun container for sewing stuff in my sewing room,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Py1L0zPSb6Y4I8gCP_LMfXW9G5Nu4KxwFqqReqbVWYF9O5qLL-IaPIaWA8hiIWOO1PSlhMhtX-PI3qwpWhfNZzBjN99MOStsjZDRqKrvv_vMzVYGVOfMuKDmkz177Baocs8p/s1600/DSC_9748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Py1L0zPSb6Y4I8gCP_LMfXW9G5Nu4KxwFqqReqbVWYF9O5qLL-IaPIaWA8hiIWOO1PSlhMhtX-PI3qwpWhfNZzBjN99MOStsjZDRqKrvv_vMzVYGVOfMuKDmkz177Baocs8p/s320/DSC_9748.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
and a cute little children's handkerchief. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I have no idea how old it is but the colors are great! So all that fun for less than $10!<br />

<br />
Then I went to my guild's "Mystery at the Masters" quilting day. Now I'm not usually a mystery person (except for Bonnie Hunter's mysteries!) but I thought it would be a fun day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7xUb2DC3o3cS00DB-vQXDo2zAQIFOIfepVdHkFvSPn5PGYr1dAzD6XFxweXjbJjZgy7IxIlbh6lRK-hlAXcdddamxzaGrNL_KeZm8kVYTtrDP0Uwk7gajtmaxpK6F7UwKXtGN/s1600/DSC_9765.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7xUb2DC3o3cS00DB-vQXDo2zAQIFOIfepVdHkFvSPn5PGYr1dAzD6XFxweXjbJjZgy7IxIlbh6lRK-hlAXcdddamxzaGrNL_KeZm8kVYTtrDP0Uwk7gajtmaxpK6F7UwKXtGN/s320/DSC_9765.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
It was a full workshop with over 40 quilters in the room! We used a mystery pattern from Debbie Caffrey called O sole Mio. I got as far as step 9...pretty good.<br />
<br />
Except by 3:00 in the afternoon I was fried! I ended up spending Sunday frog-stitching (ripping out stitches) from the blocks in step 9 and am resewing today. My left arm had gone numb and the seams from step 9 had gone all cattywampus leaving me with wobbly edges and about 1/4 inch difference! Not acceptable!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg270HSyJr0xtb4uiwNKzfb9SOFnWJFOhqHRbZErrTYrdBws-Gj2GYClfLyUmvr4_LAWWxtQrdKn32XcZT7DAKVNruanuaeo4xbkeakDrz1HEOB25GTrhhKYYrEAemHrXzARqxs/s1600/DSC_9768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg270HSyJr0xtb4uiwNKzfb9SOFnWJFOhqHRbZErrTYrdBws-Gj2GYClfLyUmvr4_LAWWxtQrdKn32XcZT7DAKVNruanuaeo4xbkeakDrz1HEOB25GTrhhKYYrEAemHrXzARqxs/s320/DSC_9768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As I press the redone blocks I also realized why I don't do 3 fabric quilts...I get fabric-bored. Since it was a mystery and didn't have scrappy suggestions I went with the pattern. I'm sure it will be a pretty quilt but I don't enjoy the process as much. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMVVqWk8DN7P7OkFW84cMyB2EZo2fCBzIv0JdNjdRtxKikUJvwTdFsJTP7esXMjm8qQ-MdzpHnAhfsK8dtnoA6CXouUPXVar3nT1w0ptpreZnDPLxNGEfRRhOlPUSZIeuzdiAb/s1600/DSC_9767.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMVVqWk8DN7P7OkFW84cMyB2EZo2fCBzIv0JdNjdRtxKikUJvwTdFsJTP7esXMjm8qQ-MdzpHnAhfsK8dtnoA6CXouUPXVar3nT1w0ptpreZnDPLxNGEfRRhOlPUSZIeuzdiAb/s320/DSC_9767.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On the Watson front...still no fence! We had heavy, heavy rain this morning so I doubt they will be working on it today. He is doing a better job of accepting it though...lots of walks and treats seem to be helping!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-10634609270708320612017-04-21T22:23:00.000+01:002017-04-21T22:23:53.654+01:00Why are borders so hard?I am about 3/4 through with my leader and ender lozenger quilt-top...at least I thought I was. I measured it last night then laid it out on the bed and say what?! It is too small. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidAo54JGgd4DwHyUow8KFYTu4IjWWh7BxWpY-7RW3_CmoBLvvH2Mh4_pFy3MS66kXC4Sg85fYVFlDo_g98x_WCByVmh-HtpGC4WDZkvbgkoqBFFpbYkEh4Gla9AtgoughRaG1u/s1600/DSC_9752.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidAo54JGgd4DwHyUow8KFYTu4IjWWh7BxWpY-7RW3_CmoBLvvH2Mh4_pFy3MS66kXC4Sg85fYVFlDo_g98x_WCByVmh-HtpGC4WDZkvbgkoqBFFpbYkEh4Gla9AtgoughRaG1u/s320/DSC_9752.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Five of the rows have been sewn together so the best option is a border no? But what border! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid6-9hypz-u_5es_GBJUwshRIz0sFCikBQoacAntqP_ayCtHq6GwNV0lOirfIle0CRMTq7TDtthPlHoZbOoJckjg7YqhDWUIl8W71vv2AOSI1j4mbd-UEzwcgCf-UgC7JM0UVp/s1600/DSC_9749.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid6-9hypz-u_5es_GBJUwshRIz0sFCikBQoacAntqP_ayCtHq6GwNV0lOirfIle0CRMTq7TDtthPlHoZbOoJckjg7YqhDWUIl8W71vv2AOSI1j4mbd-UEzwcgCf-UgC7JM0UVp/s320/DSC_9749.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
First I made some broken dishes blocks - the hst are 3 inches so the block finishes at 6 inches. I like the way it mimics the secondary pattern in the quilt. But even with a 2 inch inner border it is only an 8 inch border. I need more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjva9sOTE7Q5Sb23bSrNH0ZO2B3riRxcFSbGHrJXD_tQFzC89ofg99hhquQ1-9JoFOkvQq6nrWBqy6Gbm1b3Qe5dY8M0bJ4Bhm-wcnpqcKzq-AoknTe1w8vujqlSu_qR5YSh1M4/s1600/DSC_9750.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjva9sOTE7Q5Sb23bSrNH0ZO2B3riRxcFSbGHrJXD_tQFzC89ofg99hhquQ1-9JoFOkvQq6nrWBqy6Gbm1b3Qe5dY8M0bJ4Bhm-wcnpqcKzq-AoknTe1w8vujqlSu_qR5YSh1M4/s320/DSC_9750.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I tried a big honking broken dish block (broken platter perhaps?!) On draft paper this looked really good. In real life...not so much. I'm tempted to make a second one to see if that changes my perception...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht4SENRCqiNUehB3zsVUpJ5o75oJ-swq59Fz4AB710LX4VrJOHXiUXbuu5Dc4Fq9Dy18z6PlgmO4NhFbM74cicmpV4an3DqCp09_RLpLCCrui2nhQxllhTX1c7P2SweRywGJtZ/s1600/DSC_9754.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht4SENRCqiNUehB3zsVUpJ5o75oJ-swq59Fz4AB710LX4VrJOHXiUXbuu5Dc4Fq9Dy18z6PlgmO4NhFbM74cicmpV4an3DqCp09_RLpLCCrui2nhQxllhTX1c7P2SweRywGJtZ/s320/DSC_9754.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then there is a hybrid option; a 2 inch inner border with the 6 inch broken dishes followed by another 2 inch border then a random brick pieced 5 inch outer border. That gives me a big enough quilt for a king size bed...<br />
<br />
I think I'll put off making a decision (and more blocks) until the center part of the top is done...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
and when Dobby gives me my sewing chair back....<br />
<br />
(on the Watson front...we brought him down by the river for a long run this morning. It did a good job of wearing him out! At least he ate his lunch and was a bit less "sad" today. We'll just have to keep coming up with ways to distract him...unfortunately dog-parks are out. He was attacked by a larger dog when he was small so unless it is in the house he isn't good with meeting other dogs...) He is great with cats though...no cat parks though!<br />
<br />YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13578815.post-58397035828062784462017-04-20T17:12:00.000+01:002017-04-20T17:12:54.123+01:00No fences!My neighbors are replacing the fence around their yard which means lots of construction trucks (doing drains and gutters too...) All this means we cannot let Watson out in the yard. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Has anyone ever dealt with a dog with depression? They took down the fence last Friday. So since then we have been taking him out about every 2-3 hours. This is still not nearly as often as he went into the backyard for a quick squirrell chase. For the first few days he was just confused...then he whimpered a lot at the door...today he isn't eating - not even bacon.<br />
<br />
Talked with the contractor and it will be mid next week until the fence goes back up...trying to think of options. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This does link to quilting...I'm keeping him back in my sewing room most of the day since that is the furthest point from the noise. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJE8t3mkvGjdY3ii1m8eJYIm87O50CPYVvjP97yu7-K4wst50UrV-O-nx6hbvYXcIYzPHFhPpPwfGTHs1EvNXArNqOeIT6LslGSI23oXU5tUdEj9Q-MYLKuPPXhdZBQGkET9Tf/s1600/DSC_8233.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJE8t3mkvGjdY3ii1m8eJYIm87O50CPYVvjP97yu7-K4wst50UrV-O-nx6hbvYXcIYzPHFhPpPwfGTHs1EvNXArNqOeIT6LslGSI23oXU5tUdEj9Q-MYLKuPPXhdZBQGkET9Tf/s320/DSC_8233.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
However the likes to sit on my lap...doesn't lead to productive days. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjysoIOiTj4F9jt7fvmWBFkBefPs8H47Tdl_tMp0WzvRSLYNYoMQLVEeYcBkBIdgQW3nCN-HIPlDXRBL8yt-5vzZifQDh6CKGiVt2qt3zYW02TcY5LGYaO_KyTSe3U9bALC99Yl/s1600/DSC_9150.NEF" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjysoIOiTj4F9jt7fvmWBFkBefPs8H47Tdl_tMp0WzvRSLYNYoMQLVEeYcBkBIdgQW3nCN-HIPlDXRBL8yt-5vzZifQDh6CKGiVt2qt3zYW02TcY5LGYaO_KyTSe3U9bALC99Yl/s320/DSC_9150.NEF" width="320" /></a></div>
And needless to say Dobby is really not happy the dog has taken over his space. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
So in all this what is on the design wall? My leader and ender project from 2016! Looks a bit like fences to me...with a bit of luck the real fence will be completed before my quilt-top is!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.com8
