One thing you can always be sure of in blog-world is opinions. (not to be confused with Bloggo-world where you attempt to sell Senate seats...but I digress)
My Double delight has again become a double dilemma (does that make it a Double squared dilemma, a double double dilemma or a double dilemma times two....duhhh, that is not the question....) The issue/dilemma is border choice.
I started this quilt with a bag of fabric I had put aside years ago for another project. In the bag was three yards of the purple leaf and three yards of the beige. In my mind these would be the inner and outer borders. Now, not so sure. So these are my options...
A. The original...purple leaves with beige

B. Purple leaves with pieced green inner border

C. Gold (grapes?) with pieced green inner border

D. What are you thinking girl...dig deeper into your stash
E. Support your President and get thee to a local quilt store
Oh, dear...on another topic. I made a couple of wonky stars to send off to Australia to make quilts for the victims of the fires. Now I have to go and find the blog that I read yesterday that had the address - yikes. You would think I would have made a link to it or something...noooo. There seems to be so many bad things happening. I had to turn off the news this morning for a bit and just play with the cats for a bit.

If I don't post tomorrow...Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Here are some postcards that I started about 4 years ago...I may have one finished tonight for my husband and maybe not. Do you think he would notice if I didn't get the edges finished?!

I like the purple and beige personally. It seems to "fit" better in my eye.

Cute logcabin blocks and wonderful Valentine postcards. As for your border. I thought long and hard and have decided on option A, purple leaves and beige.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the blog in Google Reader, you can do a search of all items. Search for wonky stars. That's how I found this for you!

I vote for combinatin "b". The beige is beautiful but the pieced green and the purple leaves belong.
ReplyDeleteSubee XOXOXOXO
I like the "B" combination.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have a triple x double dilemma: How many votes are you taking? I like the option "C"
ReplyDeleteI like your wonky stars!!
I'm thinkin' I might go for D or E. I think a gold inner border with a not-so-busy, less colorful, maybe tone-on-tone purple outer border would look nice. In any case I like the lighter inner border better than the dark so my second choice would be A.
ReplyDeleteI like the green inner border with the purple leaves, but I daresay the top will tell you eventually what to do.
ReplyDeleteI can't watch the news at all. I never do, and it's amazing how much you still find out about through bulletins on the radio, headlines in the paper (I don't read newspapers either), stories from other people, and now blogs. I find myself getting terribly depressed or angry at the media, and that doesn't help.
I've kept up to date on the fires mainly through blogs and friends that are there and that has such a personal spin to it, much better than the media coverage for me.
To muddle your decision even more, I live the Gold fabric in C. The pieced green doesn't grab me as much, but we don't see the entire quilt. Sometimes when I can't decide, it means that I haven't found the right fabric. Maybe try a couple of other fabrics. You DD looks great!!! I had to sit that Mystery out, but I did print out the pattern.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I love the DD quilt especially the scrappiness of it. But I am not in love with any of the border options. I say stash dive so more, and if all else fails, stimulate the economy. ~ksp
ReplyDeleteI like the purple for the outter border, but think that the small inner border should be gold. I think of the inner border as a sparkle border, that will make the quilt pop.
ReplyDeleteI vote for option A, the purple leaves and beige inner border.
ReplyDeleteHurray for wonky stars!
Definitely A! It works and I'm all for using what you have.
ReplyDeletelook at you, sewing up projects. woohoo. hmm, not sure which border, but can I put in a veto on the green inner border? that just doesn't work for me. not that it needs to - needs to make you happy..... happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteMy answer...b+e :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the wide fabric, but I'd be tempted to used one green in the small border (hence e...if you don't have the right green) that way your little border will frame the quilt.
Like others I love the purple in A, but I think it needs to have a small gold inner border.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your designing eye works. I like "A" myself but personally I mostly love the way you played with all those options and any would be good. Very nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIs there a reason you must have an inner border? Personally, I think it might look richer and more cohesive with the purple leaf fabric right next to the purple setting triangles. Perhaps it is the camera flash that is making the inner border stand out so. Is it your intention to emphasize this border? I could see using the scrappy greens as binding.
ReplyDeleteYour double delight is awesome!

I like A, but if b was not a pieced green, it would be nice too. Also like the gold border in C. yes, it's a dilemma LOL. Honestly any would work!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you. I vote for the second border. I like green and purple together, but I bet any of them would be okay. I really like your DD quilt, even if it is a DD'd quilt.
ReplyDeleteOpinions are like noses: we all have em!
ReplyDeleteI pick purple print with the pieced green inner border.
Hello Friend, good day.
ReplyDeleteVery nice to work.
Happy Sunday to voce.abrços.Richard
to me the beige is to beige and really stands out to much for me.. I would probably go stash diving for a gold inner and the purple border.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion and Your quilt will be perfect for you.I think it looks great
I like B. and those valentine postcards are super sweet
ReplyDeleteI vote for A.....blends with the
ReplyDeleterest of the quilt...flows back and
