Nearing a half-century....

Yikes...I can't believe it but this weekend I turn (gulp) 50. Where did it go? I remember turing 30 but 40? Blurrrr.
I went to lunch with my friend Paula and her two kids. She gave me this really fun pincushion (complete with vintage buttons that look like ladybugs) and some purple nailpolish...what every mid-century gal needs! I may just use it for my pedicure Saturday...
I have been playing with some 2 inch scraps...still in the autumn mood. Maybe I am trying to convince myself it really isn't going to be 95 degrees tomorrow. If that is the case I should pull out the Christmas fabrics....

  1. A happy birthday to you. Turning fifty is not as bad as turning 60, so look at it that way.
Your new pincushion is cute as can be!

  4. Happy 50th! I clearly remember both 30 and especially 40--my hubby bought me the sewing machine I had been lusting after for my 40th. I've had it eight years so, uh, I'm only about 18 months behind you, yikes!

    Don't say the C-word, please!

  5. Happy Birthday! I hit the big 5-0 as well this year, in December (my emotional age is closer to 12).

Your scrappy maple leaf with logs is really cool! I'm with you on the heat...the quilt cave is cool, though...

  13. Happy Birthday!! My b-day is the 5th - perhaps we share the same day...however, my year will be two identical digits that add up to 12 - how can that be? I feel more like 50 (hee-hee). Love the pincushion and the lady bug is so cute. Have a wonderful day and thank you for making my days so happy with your blog!

  14. Happy Birthday to You! Sorry it's your 50th lol. I don't know where the 40s and 50s went myself. The pincushion is so cute, what a nice gift.

  15. Happy Birthday! Turning 50 is better than the alternative of not turning 50, eek!
Cute pincushion. If your weather is like ours here in So. MD you'll definately need the Christmas fabric, sorry to hear. Looking forward to the near future when were out of the 90's and back in the 880's where we belong at this time of year. I don't wish for winter in the summer, but it does get dificult when August comes in June.
    Blessings

  16. Have a wonderful birthday!! Wish I'd timed my parcel better to arrive for your big day - maybe when you hit 60 I'll get it right LOL ;-)
Love your scrappy maple leaf block - a birthday treat to play with fabric and start something new?

  17. Happy birthday to you.
I just turned 60 this past March. My age has never meant anything to me until this milestone! Yikes! 60 seems so "senior".

I like your attitude about using Autumn colors in June. I dread the hot humid weather. I feel so much more flexible in the cooler months.
