I did make some 6 pointed crumb stars...the foundations are pages from my mutual fund reports. (At least they were good for something!) The paper is thin but the ink doesn't rub off as easily as telephone book print.

The blocks above are some vintage ones that have "aged" in my closet for a bit and are "asking" to be made into something...After reading the two Material Obsession books I want to be a bit more adventurous with my color choices for sashing...I don't think I will go as far are Kaffe or batiks but I may play with some brights...or some funky black prints....

Last week I did take out my autumn decorations and got most of them up...I left out my fall quilt to put up in the living room but it looks like my DH had other plans...so his red white and blue quilt will just have to co-exist with my orange and purple witches!
Those vintage stars are great! And I love your crumb diamonds.
ReplyDeleteSometimes sewing crumbs is all we're up to, and it's good therapy too!
I've always wanted to make those strippy crumbing 6 pointed stars. but I always dreaded the set in seams. I love yours!
ReplyDeleteWatching the progress V is making with Ton's star and now seeing yours makes me want to have a go, but it's the dreaded Y seam thing. I just know I'll mess it up!
ReplyDeleteNice red, white and blue quilt...too pretty to take down!
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
I love your stars! I think they look very stunning. The aged stars look timeless beauties.
ReplyDeleteHi Goldie! :)
ReplyDeleteSio, I am diggin' that 6 pointed star you made. And to think - there are 6 more. Wow! Really dig those.
the stars look GREAT!! I'm so loving stars right now! Happy playing!!
ReplyDeleteThe diamonds look divine! And the aging stars hardly have any wrinkles, just like those in Hollywood. Purple Witches and red white and blue, hmmm, a cacophony of color (sounds like something The Wizard of Oz might say!)
ReplyDeleteI think red, white and blue goes with everything!
ReplyDeleteLove what you are doing with your crumbs! Both stars are wonderful and inspiring! Think I need to make some too!
ReplyDeleteHandsome kitty showing off your hubby's quilt. I'm sure it all looks good :-)
Your crumb star block is great. In fact, all your star blocks are great!
ReplyDeletei'm so glad that you stayed with the red, white & blue quilt cuz it really is awesome, Sio!
ReplyDeletemaybe by next autumn i will have an autumn quilt ... or maybe not
love the crumb star, but then again I'm focused on those lately! what? no patriotic in the Fall collection - just replace it and see how long it takes for DH to notice. Hi to Goldie.
ReplyDeleteLove the crumby stringy stars!! I could use some mindless piecing right now too! Those crumbs and the pineapples are calling me..
ReplyDeleteBonnie
How lovely your "aged" blocks are, but I really love those crumby diamonds.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Dionne
Loving those strings!! Guess what? I am working on a crabapple quilt...like yours and Bonnies!!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one using telephone books for foundation piecing. I wondered about the print making things grubby, so I graduated to (new, not used) sandwich wrap. The non-waxy type allows pencil lines too, if required.
ReplyDeleteLOVE all those stars. The crumb stars look amazing - I would love to try those...
ReplyDeleteI love sewing as cleaning. Amazing how nice those crumbs can come together, isn't it? I make myself fold and put away one piece of fabric from the cutting table every time I go there to trim a block.
