He was a bit dirty and very hungry but otherwise ok...perhaps a sore paw. Now that he has eaten, checked the house, and been washed he is asleep on his quilt. There has got to be an easier way to give him flea meds...we go through "high drama" every month!
Anyway, I did get two borders onto the Charleston basketweave quilt so the day wasn't a total loss...just have a really long list of errands to do tomorrow!
The CB quilt reminds me a lot of this photo that I took during a garden tour in England...the leaves sort of weave and the colors are very close to what I used in my quilt. Funny how I've had this photo in my quilt-inspiration folder for years!
I'm so glad you found him! What a relief! One thing we used to do with our cats, to bathe them and give them meds, was to take an old metal screen from a window and lean it on an angle. We'd lift the cat onto the screen and hold the cat by the scruff of the neck, then bathe or use their flea meds. Their claws would go through the screen and they couldn't get away until we let them. Saved us getting scratched up and them from being totally stressed!

ReplyDeleteYay!!! The wanderer is home! I know when my Gypsy was younger she would wander off and not come home until sometime the next day. I always kind of held my breath until I saw her. So glad your buddy is home & you can relax!

ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Dobby!! Little Boo ran away once when I first moved into my house. I found out later she was frightened and camped under the deck. She arrived at the back door about a week later, with cobwebs on her sweet little face. Awwww...she's so cute even when she worries me to death!

So glad he came back safe and sound to his loving home even though he hates his flea treatments! Don't have a solution to that. My cat hates them too and it takes two of us to hold him when we do it.

I have 5 cats and hardly ever use the stuff simply because they are so frightened of it.
A couple of them are no problem but my big Rupert does exactly the same as Dobby, runs and is so frightened.
I find that if I comb them regularly I can keep the fleas under and they do not need to be treated.
If I do treat them it would only be once a year as I don't like the chemicals going into my cats.

ReplyDeleteThe last time I brought my dog Rusty to the vet for his annual, they changed his flea meds. He was using Revolution that had to be applied to the back of his nect. He is now taking a pill once a month. Trifexis is the one our vet prescribed. There might be something comparable for cats. Please blog about your trip to Paducah. I wasn't able to attend this year. Many thanks!
ReplyDeletemy dog gets it in a pill form, which I hide in a pill pocket. ( Brand of pill hiding treat) maybe dobby could switch to a pill?
