A short delay in piecing...

I had such great hopes of staying on track with the Russian Sunflower quilt...then my MS kicked in. Duhhh. (Still need to add one more border with 8 appliqued circles.)

So plans for getting the top finished last weekend have been extended a few days...first to get those darn muscle spasms that makes talking and walking difficult to calm down and second to recover from dropping an iron on my foot!

What was I doing with an iron if I wasn't working on the RS quilt? Well, I was frustrated so I pulled out some bright fabrics thinking they would make me happy. I wanted to get these started for our National quilting day program on Saturday where we are making quilts for Ronald McDonald House. I started doing the easy piecing...forgetting that then I needed to get to the ironing board and that ironing boards aren't all that stable. My being unstable (on my feet that is) and the ironing board were not a good combination!

So my poor DH, who developed excellent ironing skills while serving 20 years in the Air Force, is helping by pressing any projects for me when he gets home. Not getting a whole lot done here! Though I did throw a lot of new fabric in the washing machine for him to press tonight. Am I taking advantage of the situation? Heck ya!

Dobby has been very good while I've been sick...very odd. Most of the time he is a wild cat. (BTW, the wool quilt he has claimed was made in 1950 and has a wool backing. I didn't realize until today that I don't have a full photo of it...I'll have to wait until Dobby isn't guarding it...)

I'm sure Dobby senses that you aren't well at the moment. Both you and he will be back to your normal selves soon.

Please take care and I surely hope it was a lightweight iron. Poor foot.

Hope you are feeling better soon...

Certainly take full advantage of any ironing on offer...I don't think I'd be so lucky in my house :-)

Dobbie is being so sweet in that picture...funny how cats know when they need to be good!

I have been following your post for quite awhile, and love the work you are doing on the Russian Sunflower. That is just gorgeous with the fabrics and the shapes. Reproducing this quilt from a sewn quilt must be difficult--but you have done an outstanding job!! The quilt does not even have the original colors on some of the blocks due to age--what a labor of love. Sorry about the iron, hope your foot feels better. I know my husband would not iron for me--too impatient!! One of the ladies who my husband works with has MS, and I know how bad it can be. She has to just stop things for awhile until everything calms down. It drives her crazy to just sit--she was always on the move. She has lost the strength in her hands--so her scrapbooking was hard until she found cutting tools that were easier to use. Of course those are expensive--and she is not working. Now she has time to work on things, but not the money. Dobby looks like an adorable companion--cats sense things we don't realize. I will say prayers for you tonight on feeling better. Take care. Judy

MS sucks!!! sorry it's hitting you hard. maybe it's time for a stable ironing board? put something (like a door) on top of cabinets or shelves and have something permanent. course that won't stop the iron from throwing itself onto your feet. ouch! glad the menfolk are helping out.

I am amazed at all you do; heaven knows what you would do without MS.

Very inspiring you are my dear!

Hope you're feeling better soon. Nothing more therapeutic than cozying up with a cuddly kitty. I do that even when nothing ails me. :)

I echo everyone else's best wishes. Something must be going around with hurting feet---I was hurrying in my quilting "studio" without shoes on and hit my pinky toe on the longarm frame. I am pretty sure it is broken! Oh well, good thing I don't use my left foot to push the sewing machine pedal so I am okay :c). Have a great week-end!
