Painting...today?

So just as my husband was leaving for a short guy-roadtrip with his buddies he tells me the painters are coming over on Monday to "measure and pick out colors and stuff."  Now I was just happy we were having folks come in to paint instead of our usual do-it-yourself which usually translated to "Siobhan does it after banishing her DH to the other room and swears she will never let him do another DIY project."  (last time our Scottie dog had a blue streak down his back like a rocker skunk for months...)

I was about to chalk this up as my first "live with more wisdom" step in 2014..but then the doorbell rang.  There stood the painters all set to start painting.  No I had done no prep or cleaning or straightening up like I would usually do.  Heck, they were early.  I was still in my pajamas.

So it was an interesting Monday.  I picked out colors (pretty much the same as we have now!) and they got the cabinets off the wall, prepped in primed in about the same time it took me to get over the shock of it all!

This blog is supposed to be about quilts...I know.  Today was supposed to be spent quilting and that didn't happen either...

I did however clean a closet...really I was looking for the cabinet hardware I bought in Poland about 8 years ago...didn't find the cabinet knobs but I did find some fabric I was missing!  A bag of Cherry wood fat-quarters, a couple of scrap bags, and some block they had used for their display that were on sale!

What do you think...Monkey wrench only on point

Or mix the Monkeys and the basket blocks?

You are lucky to have a hubby who will hire the painters, he's a keeper!
As for me, I think that the arrangement of the cake stands in the center of the on point churn dashes looks really cool. It adds so much visual interest and eye movement. I wonder what you'll choose for your setting triangles? Cream? Tan? Scrappy? Hmmm.

I like the churn dash on point myself. Looking forward to seeing the new paint job.

(Okay, I apologize in advance for this, but I can't resist.)
Boy, that whole cabinet thing really threw a wrench in your day.
I know--really weak humor.
Anyway, I like both settings. The baskets do add some "pop" to the whole thing, but I don't know that they need to. The monkey wrench blocks stand on their own quite well.

Yikes that would have been a shock! Nice fabrics - I like the basket blocks mixed in :0)

Monkey wrench on point looks good. Lovely isn't it, having someone else come in a do the painting.

Must say the monkey wrench blocks on point really strike my fancy. I just love Cherrywood fabrics.

...either the worker bees show up early or they show up late. Been there... the pj part...

Love those solid fabrics... haven't heard of Cherrywood fabrics... need to go look 'em up!

I like the monkey wrench on point.Maybe it's my screen, but the baskets color look "off", esp. the lime green. Painting will be great once it is done.

What a surprise, hope you had you good pj's on! I like the combo of the basket quilts in the mix with churn dash. Hope the painters are finished soon and you get back to the sewing.

I like both settings, but I like you not having to do the painting yourself even more!
