taking a break

Have you ever found yourself so unable to sleep that you just park yourself in your sewing room and randomly run things through the machine? Well that was me last night. I finished a quick table runner with the Christmas fabrics (nothing fancy but it will be covered by food dishes so...) and put the last few rows of a batik around the world...I finally took a break around 0300. Yikes.

Even Brownie was confused...not confused enough to stay out of the way though...
So today I took it easy. I did make some of the Father in law's famous potato salad...that is him above in "his" kichen. (for "his" put in any kitchen in which he is standing!) After ten years of being married to his son he finally gave me the secret recipe. Maybe at 20 years I get his recipe for biscuits and turkey hash?

And finally more peaches...this time of year they are just too good to leave at the farm stand...

I haven't exactly had that experience but I did wake up @ 4am which didn't do me any good today. I still made it thru but I was confused like Brownie. Only I didn't get the naps I'm sure she did. And she's funny - not getting out the way. Yet another reason I love her. She's such a CATTTT!

How fun to see your Father in Law. I'm hungry for some of that famous potato salad.

I have noticed that a lot of us quilters seem to have difficulty sleeping. I usually sew till 1 or 2 am myself. Quilting is such good therapy...do you suppose that is why we are drawn to it?
Hope things get back to normal for you.

Yep, I frequently find myself quilting when I can't sleep.

I had a Georgia peach yesterday morning -- it's been ages since I had one and it was really, really good. I enjoyed the visit and was happy to see the boys but I'm glad I'm home.

I haven't sewed recently when I could not sleep but I might try that next time. The peaches this year are so good. I am enjoying them too

The only time I wasn't able to sleep, I did the ironing, how boring. I should have sewed. Potato salad is one of my favourite foods!

I use to sew half the night a lot of the time until I hurt myself in 07. I was finally getting better this last May and June and then July the 1st I fell into the wall and there will be no sewing again for a long while. I cann't tell you how much I miss it.
Come and see me sometime.

Yum! potato salad and made by a master :-)
Sorry you can't sleep, but you are very good to sew. I just toss and turn and get grumpy.
Hope your pity purchases have cheered you up and those peaches look beautiful!
