Almost Amish

My sister and her husband came to visit for a few days so I haven't been on the computer very much the past few days.
Getting the guest room ready gives me a chance to look at some of the antique quilts that I "store" layered on the queen size bed. It sort of reminds me of the Princess and the Peas fairytale - there are about a dozen quilts, each separated by a sheet, that have to come off the bed! This red, blue and black 9-patch came from a street-fair in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. I love the variety of black fabrics in it and from a distance it is "almost Amish" because of the near solids. I am participating in Tonyas "Liberated Amish" class - this would almost count.

Since the cats aren't allowed in that room naturally Brownie snuck in while I was working in there....note the guilty look on her face....

Today I am going to finish up a couple of wheelchair bags for our charity group and work on a new project - rughooking - for a couple of hours. I tried dying some wool last night during the superbowl for this project. Some came out good some - ah, not so good. Hopefully when cut into thing strips (worms) and poked into the linen background they will look better! Photos to come tomorrow....

that is a lovely quilt. 9 patches are just the best aren't they? I keep selecting fabrics to make myself a 9 patch... then I get distracted and make something else... one of these days!

That's a gorgeous quilt! Cute cat, too. :) I am looking forward to seeing your rug hooking pictures. I want so badly to learn how to do rug hooking, even if it's just so that I can say I'm a hooker. ROFLOL

I love your name, btw!!

Oh this new project - looking forward to peeking when it's time!!!

What a cool quilt. I didn't know that's how you stored some of your quilts either so that's neat to learn of you. But really for me it's all about Brownie... what can I say?

Princess and the Pea...LOLLOLOL!

Beautiful quilt. When we remodeled I had a walk-in linen closet built. FINALLY enough room for all my quilts and vintage wool blankets. Yes, I collect vintage wool blankets too.

Looking forward to see your rug hooking. That's one thing I've never done!

Your blue and red quilt is wonderful. Isn't it interesting how our furry friends sneak into places that they know they are not allowed to be in and they look so remorseful, but do not leave?

Love that quilt. glad you pointed out the blacks. I wouldn't have noticed that.

dye before you felt- felted wool is very difficult to get to take up dye. But if you dye/rinse/wash to full or felt, then it is easier.
