scrappy bits...

Rain, rain, rain...got to love it! We have had a really dry end of summer so the past few days have filled the water barrels and cleared the air. All good.
It also gave me time to work on my crab tree quilt (Leaders and Enders, by Bonnie Hunter.)
Once the stack of 9-patches was made the trees went together pretty quickly...as quickly as 1-1/2 inch squares can that is! I used a variety of yellow to orange cornerstones, 25 different greens for the trees, 24 browns for the trunks, three different beige fabrics for the setting triangles, maroon for the sashing, double pink for the inner-border, and pink and maroon plaid for the outer-border. I think I am safe in calling this a scrap quilt....Needless to say we are finding 9-patches under every chair and in every corner or the house...Brownie even seems to think she can pull them out of the quilt-top - yikes! I better get those last two borders on soon so I can quilt it and keep those blocks safe....

A quick thank-you to the American Quilters Society for naming my blog the quilting blog of the week! My first reaction was "wow, they really like me!" Then I remembered it was a random drawing and it became "wow, I'm really lucky!" What-ever...it is all good!

Speaking of drawings...I am closing in on a couple of milestones (number of posts and number of followers and number of clean square feet in my sewing room) so watch for a drawing soon....

Ooooo! I love this quilt...it is my leader and ender project right now, but I have not been doing enough machine piecing lately to finish many nice patches...doh! Yours is gorgeous! And you have assembled this quickly...I remember when you first mentioned it.

It is raining gently and steadily here in southeast lower Michigan today as well. I LOVE rainy days!! I'd love it more if I was piecing rather than painting...urgh!

Congrats on your blog getting recognized...it is all good!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

My cats get that same look when they have hold a quilt project. Brownie knows he's got something special there. Love the crabtrees! Very scrappy and inspiring.

Also a fan of Bonnie Hunter. Currently working on 9-patch ZigZag. Don't know if I will ever finish this one off. But it makes for a perfect Leader & Enders.

This is such a gorgeous pattern, really loving all the variety you've got going. Brownie is hilarious! Congrats on your bloggy award, it's nice to be noticed!

It hasn't rained her for 5 1/2 months...I don't even know what a rainy day is anymore.

Love that quilt, is it from one of her books? I need a new leader/ender project as I have finished the last one I was making. Rain...here in Washington State, we had such a rainy summer that we are done with it, but I'm sure Mother Nature will have other ideas about that one!

Gorgeous quilt in the making and I bet your scrap bin is feeling a little lighter! I'm trying to sew up all my crumbs and then I'm going to tackle the 1 1/2" bin...that quilt looks like just the project to do it!
