Short vacation

My DH and I had big plans for this week. We booked a cabin in North Carolina, made reservations for a horseback trek, and mapped out several antique stores. Well....

We had made a stop at a Diner in South Carolina along the way and their star specialty of onion sausage tasted really good but....need I say more? I only ever got to see the cabin....and only vaguely remember that!

OK, maybe not that bad but we did come back early. My big excitement was a brief stop at a roadside stand to buy bags of apples and a pumpkin (and almost perfect pumpkin!) The apple orchards around Hendersonville are really nice. We did stop quickly there and I got to gimp around one antique store in town that had some really nice quilts...can you believe I was too worn out to even buy one? You know I was hurting!
Anyway, I am doing better today and plan to put in my hours at our guild booth at the local arts show. We are selling tickets for our donation quilt and trying to find or create new quilters.

Do you belong to a guild? Do you find that sometimes you love it and other times you wonder why you bother? I am sort of in the latter phase right now...sometime it just reminds me of the scene from Galaxy Quest when they land on a moon and see the wounded alien miner....(yes, I am a geek and only geeks will get the reference!)

I so know what you are talking about. I really enjoy the BIG guild I belong to, but from mid-April in until early Nov. I have other commitments. One member let it be known loudly she was ticked that I would not be at the semi-annual quilt show. My other commitments are my income. Duh!
I love reading your posts. I check to see how you are feeling. I have similiar days of good & bad. You amaze me at how much you get done!

I LOVE that movie and totally get the reference! Doesn't it always work out that a tiny handful are doing the work sometimes, and the vocal majority are just moving their jaws... Hang in there!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

I used to belong to one, I did not stay long. Now I would like to belong to one or even a mini group. Love the photos of pumpkins. Glad you took a trip and I am amazed by you.

I know exactly how you feel. I have had big Guild jobs the last 3 years and I wonder why I can't say "no"! There are other things I want to do that don't involve quilting at all. I don't even care for half the workshops....lots of wall hangings and fusible applique. My style is more traditional and scrappy quilts. I think my Guild tries to do too much and it requires lots of volunteers and chairpeople.

I love the fact that you make big plans! Seems to me they turned out most excellent. Me, as an apple lover, is watering at the mouth that you have a bag of fresh roadside ones my friend. Oh yummmmmy.

Glad you brought up the Guild. My own MS has been pretty good this past year (as you know) and I even went and met a new Guild that I thought was active and pretty great but still, not for me. Takes a whole day to recover from outings this days (or more) and I'd just assume recover from other things as opposed to a Guild meeting.

Sheesh MS makes a girl prioritize and ensure she's following her passion!

Yeeks! Guild makes you feel like that? "Run away before someone eats Guy!" I have never been part of a guild. I have a few friends and family that likes to quilt and I find that works best for me. So sorry the sausage didn't agree with you. What a bummer. Note to self- eat only familiar food when traveling...

sausage ... omigawd ... i cannot even get outta Cincetti's before i have to make a trip to the ladies' room - and then i'm no good for the next 24 hours (but it TASTES so good!)

Auntia and i have our own guild - Jennifer/Bronze Wombat belongs, too - we have no officers or committees or meetings and if one of us gets pissy, we all go to our rooms
