Herding and branding UFO's

I've hunkered down a bit the past week...hiding from the heat! Determined to clear out a few UFO's this summer I have made a pile and started "kitting" them up so there is no excuse not to work on them whenever I have a minute or an ounce of extra energy. MY Dh looked at my "organized" piles with their post-it notes and called it branding time....
I did finish a quilt-top from the UFO pile. Not my oldest UFO but not my newest either. I have a set of 6-7 blocks from the 1940's with this pattern (BB #1654, Richmond or Pinwheel) and I had wanted to reproduce them for a long time. In the end instead of reproducing them in pastels I went for my reproduction stack instead.

Now this moves to the "to be quilted" pile...which is getting alarmingly large again!

I like the "branding time" comment. Cute. This quilt looks so rich and interesting. I was trying to visually break down the block and mentally draw a pattern when I realized I have made this block before, structurally. But the coloring was so different in the ones I made that I didn't realize it was this same pattern. I love yours so much more. The simplest elements can yield the most interesting quilts. I love it in the reproduction prints. Beautiful quilt!!

Gosh I love these blocks and this quilt. Really dig the variety in the cornerstones, too. Fantastic. *karendianne.

My DH bought a tennis racket stringing machine and is teaching himself to use it, I said I wished it was a longarm machine and that he learnt to use it!!
A great quilt top!

It is so amazing that a switch of fabric can produce such different blocks. I know it happens but it is so cool to see it. Your fabric choice was perfect!
I need you to come and help me organize my UFO's!
XOXOXO Subee

Wow, what a pretty top! Definitely needs to become a quilt. The colors are so pretty and more vibrant than you usually think of repro fabrics.
