Lightweight quilting....

I made it out to my evening quilt guild meeting last night. Since I know there are lots of Bonnie Hunter fans I figured I had to share this photo of a completed Roll Roll Cotton Boll...and no it is not mine. (Mine is sitting patiently in a nice acid free box waiting for me to get my groove on....)My shoulder is healing up. I still can't lift anything heavy (including the iron...definitely need to shop for a small/lightweight iron - any recommendations out there?) I did get some applique done. I've had the Blackbird designs pattern Halloween 1904 for several months and had even pulled the fabrics from my stash. This seemed like a good time to start... Brownie seems to think she should be part of this quilt and has made a bed in the box emptied of the Halloween fabrics....

I decided to stop the Jacob's Ladder quilt top with 30 blocks. I have a fun border planned to make this a single bed size quilt. Even at this size though I have to delay putting the blocks together...maybe next week. The pink and green make it a very fun summery quilt and I do want to finish it this summer!

What is it with cats and boxes? I love the colors in the Jacob's ladder. Very pretty.

Wow, you're making great progress and I can see the kitties are helping you reach your goals! Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Glad you getting out and about with the shoulder and sewing too! Nice blocks in the summer/watermelon colour combo!

Thanks for sharing the photo from your guild mtg. I do like that quilt. All the guilds around here that I am aware of go on hiatus for the summer. Love your Jacob's Ladder quilt--makes me think of watermelon, and that is a summery thought!

Beautiful RRCB. I could not do those string blocks so gave up on the quilt, even though I love Bonnie!

Gorgeous applique and oh so jazzy Jacob's ladder blocks.

Thanks for the funny cat pics too. My cat climbed into the Hoosier cabinet this morning and laid down on a project box; I forgot she was in there and shut the door--remembering about 10 minutes later. She did not even cry to come out, but was ready to leave when I opened the cupboard again! Silly Mini.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder...I hope you are back to normal soon!! Why are cats so drawn to boxes and bags?!? Love the pictures. Summer has been crazy for me...not enough sewing! I hope that things calm down in August! (Wishful thinking...)

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Sorry to hear about your fall! hope you are on the mend. I have stopped making the CW blocks and I'm now just printing the directions and throwing them in a box! sooo far behind. I think I will have the same problem as you are having. a little too scrappy.

let me know if you need red blue 2.5 strips, I might have some to put to the cause.

your blocks are great. Recommendation: Rowenta DA1560 Classic 1000-Watt Compact Iron. It's small and it works fabulously.

I have a cheapo iron (under $10!) that I take to class. I think it's a store brand ("D" is all it says on the iron...from WalMart). It gets very hot and has no auto shut off.Very lightweight.(I also have a heavy, nice, expensive Shark that replaced my Rowenta.)I do recommend the "D"! Sally in SC
