Only a couple days after Thanksgiving and almost half the houses in my neighborhood are decorated for Christmas. Is it me or does that feel wrong?
Poor Macbeth is traumatized by it all. He is a sworn enemy of the inflatable snowmen (you know the kind that have a motor inside to keep them inflated and a light so they sort of glow...makes me think of the marshmallow giant in "Ghostbusters.") Then there are the mechanical deer whose heads bob up and down...Mac chooses to ignore them but I worry one of these days he'll have had enough - he'll slip his lead and we'll see him dragging one mangled mechanical deer down the driveway (the fact they are 10x his size has no bearing on the matter...he is a terrier remember!)
I am trying to clear away the autumn fabrics and found this Thankgiving one...been in my stash a long time. Not a lot of fabrics with printed in the USA on the selvage anymore.
Today I spent some time finishing up the Halloween quilt I started this year. I have been pulling some of the blacks and shirtings from the Halloween project box for the mystery quilt and it dawned on me I might need them for the H-project. (not that that has even happened to me before....whoops!) I think I am ok...all the half-squares are done and I only have to applique a couple more stars. I cut the fabric and am putting the whole thing somewhere safe (note to self - it is on the upper shelf of the spare bedroom closet.)
I have finished step two in the Bonnie's new mystery...I'll post my photos tomorrow. It was a quick step and my DH even helped take out the paper while we watched football last night. The paper is messy but the cats had fun with it! (With that read...really, messy!)

The grandbabies were here this weekend so we did a little Christmas decorating... don't have the big outside decor thing going on at all!
That is a very nice Thanksgiving print...
Congratulations on getting Step 2 of the mystery quilt done! Now you can play with something else, yes?
Mac sounds determined, all right! A lot of neighbors decorated over the weekend because of the mid-week changeover to December and that thing called darkness at 5:15. DH REFUSES to put up any house lights until the calendar page has turned. I just smile.
Cats are fun when you are trying to do something organizational! Glad you got some help on part 2 of the mystery.
I just started part one and part two today. The cats were being very helpful. I am sure they will have everything spread throughout the entire house by the time I get off work tomorrow. All 3 floors of the house.
Well done Sio- You have been one productive lady to get both steps completed so quickly.
I debated about putting up the Christmas village this weekend but I just didn't feel like getting it out. We are not sure how much decorating we will do this year. The break comes late and our son will not be here for Christmas so I am not sure how much I will do. I have to find my Christmas Mojo and I am not there yet.
Love the autumn fabrics- I bet the cats did have fun with that paper.
Regards,
Anna
I think I remember that old fabric.
Dh decorates based on the weather, not the calender. If he'd had time our lights on the deck railing and main floor windows (only outside decor) would have been up days ago, just to avoid the cold and storms.
During last night's football I was working on Smokey Mountain Stars in red and green plaids. That is the Bonnie Hunter pattern I am making now and it is a mystery--whether or not I will get it finished this Christmas, or will it be for next year? That is all the mystery I can handle right now. : )
Oh poor Mac. Hope he manages to get through to the end of December without doing any damage.
I don't like those Santa's either.
Christmas decorations are always allowed on Thanksgiving or after. It's just the before (especially before Halloween!!!) that's wrong. excellent place to leave a note for yourself... I don't mind pulling paper out, except when doing diamonds or other strange shapes...
Things are starting to look very festive at your house. I'm sending some of our snow your way!
