Last week of the year...

I'm closing out the year sorting UFO's and cleaning a closet. Sounds like fun no? I did finish my star blocks for the Bonnie's mystery in time for today's new step!

Actually I had a busy week visiting with friends last week and it sort of wore me out. I did make a new Bittersweet Chocolate Cake recipe from the Land O'Lakes web site. It is definitively a keeper! Stays moist for days and is a deep, deep chocolate accented with coffee...be still my heart!

The photos shows it on one of my favorite cake stands. It was made from the broken propeller of a Gloster Gladiator Aircraft at RAF Ismalia, Egypt in 1937.

This will be a short post. The MS has been acting up and today they put me on a course of steroids...some folks get a bit hyper on them while others get tired and achy...let's say I'll be watching lots of movies from the couch the next few days.

Guess it is a good thing my DH gave me the entire series of the original Upstairs Downstairs, The Tudors (the old boxed set not the current series, and several old Sherlock Holmes movies I hadn't seen before. So with those and the remains of the chocolate cake I should be good for at least 48 hours!

Have a Happy New Year!

Your mystery blocks look great! Congrats on your progress. I really like Bonnie's color choices for this one. I have seen many alternate choices that are nice, too, but I'm loving her bold contrasts.
What an interesting source for a cake stand. There must be a story behind that.
Sorry you aren't up to speed. Hope the meds help, and in the meantime, you have some great viewing choices. Makes me remember I have a couple of old Sherlock Holmes movies on the shelf that I haven't seen yet--are yours Basil Rathbone?

Love your blocks! They look so beautiful all together. I can't wait for Bonnie's reveal Sunday. Of course, it would be even more fun if I had blocks to show too but oh well, maybe next year :-)
Hope you enjoy those movies and feel better soon. Have a blessed 2012!

Sorry about your MS flare. Steroids are a miracle drug - I have to take them for Crohn's disease and they make me sleep-less. And when the dosage is even higher, I get a bit high strung, but I can't live without them. Hope you get to feeling better soon. By the way, that chocolate cake looks scrumptious.

I love your cake stand and it's story. Your mystery blocks are really nice. I haven't had too much time to work on mine. I just finished the star points. It will take me awhile to get caught up. I hope the meds work and and you'll be up to par in no time. Love the old movies too. Hugs

Love your Orca Bay blocks! I am trying to get caught up after putting my OB stuff aside to work on Christmas presents. I'm working on several steps at once now. So, do you favor the old Basil Rathbone - Nigel Bruce version of Sherlock Holmes movies? Those were always my husband's favorites. I think my son and I may go see the new Robert Downey Jr. - Jude Law version of Sherlock Holmes this weekend. They're actually pretty entertaining. Hope you are able to relax and get your equilibrium back. Best wishes for a calm new year.
