Back from Boston...

Beach rocks for neutral inspirations...

Will I ever be warm again? My blood sure has gotten thin living down south - I was piling on sweaters and quilts my entire time in Boston last week! I sure hope spring arrives up there soon...at least before I visit again in August!

I went up to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem for a cousins day out. I met some relatives that I hadn't seen in years! We toured the Dutch and Flemish Masterworks from the Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otteroo Collection. I was really impressed with the exhibits display...lots of furniture interspersed with the paintings. The exhibit write-ups were informative as well. I need to get back to the regular exhibits next time I am in the area.

Didn't get a whole lot of stitching done and can you believe I didn't visit one fabric store! Too busy looking for sweaters I think!

The year we moved from California to Virginia, I wore a sweater all summer long. I think it's the difference in the humidity. It sounds like you had fun in spite of being cold.

Sounds like a fun (if chilly!) trip. I'm going to be in Boston, and Salem, this summer, so I was glad to read about the things you liked!

I visited the Peabody when I was in the area in 2007. I made the mistake of referring to it as the PEEbody and was promptly corrected to Peebdy (with the last vowel sort of swallowed and not much of an emphasis on "Pee"). Cracked me up, but I'm easily amused.

That tree full of birdhouses brings a smile. What a strong woman--not one fabric shop. I was visiting New England a couple of years ago and tried a couple of quilt shops, but they were closed. Couldn't figure out why and then realized it was Columbus Day. Finally found an open one just before flying home.
I doubt you will be looking for sweaters in August!

I'm heading there tomorrow and I think the high is going to be mid 60's but it's been cool here too so it shouldn't be too bad. I will be bringing a raincoat though since there's a chance of rain everyday except Sunday.

Spring has arrived here in Alberta and it has been a balmy 70 degrees lately- the mornings are cool but the days are warm- but probably too cold for a Southern girl.
The art gallery trip sounds great- There is nothing like seeing the works up close - a photograph just can't do what the eye does.

Sorry that Paducah didn't work out the way you had hoped regarding the fine arts appraiser exam. I am sure that you will figure out what is the best way for you to go to the next level. You have lots of knowledge and a love of old quilts - that is valuable in its own way.
Warmest regards,
Anna
