Antique quilt top...

So difficult to watch all the coverage of the tornado damage out in Oklahoma.  Thoughts and prayers go out to all.  I made our donation to the Red Cross.  Still feel a bit helpless...

On the quilt front I got this antique/vintage quilt top in the mail yesterday.  It as an impulse purchase on Ebay...think if I saw it in real life I would not have gotten it.

The fabrics are interesting but it just isn't speaking to me...I'll put it away for a few weeks and try again later. If not then I'll give it to AQSG for their silent auction this fall...

In the sewing room I pulled out another quilt that just needed some binding...

I put this Halloween quilt on the table and tossed fabrics at it...not very scientific but I found one I like!  I'm making the binding this afternoon.  Now I know this quilt isn't on my 2013 but it is sooo close to being finished!  Also, I think I just forgot about when I was making the list...

On the pet front...Brownie is taking advantage of her bind sick and is staying in the sewing studio.  I think she  likes being the only cat in the space!  Mac is doing a bit better.  It is however getting more and more difficult to get him to take his pill.  He no longer trusts turkey sausage, tuna, peanut butter, or cheese.  I had to go out and get a rotisserie chicken today...after that I may be out of options!

Pills and animals require a lot of creativity, sneakiness and timimg. We use chicken baby food (no onion powder in it), plain yogurt, ground meat, steak, scrambled eggs...the list goes on forever when you are desperate :-/
Hang in there. I hope Mac tolerates the meds till they are done. Hugs!

Too bad about the antique top. I've experienced that with vintage blocks on ebay.
Your Halloween quilt is so fun--and how nice to cross off a finish with only a binding (pencil it onto the list so you can cross it off).
Oh, try Tonya's suggestion--I'd take the pill if it was wrapped in bacon! : )

Yes, the news coming from Oklahoma really is quite devestating, it is getting quite a bit of coverage down here too!!! We had a mini tornado here a few years ago, I was at home at the time and it sounded like a train. It paved it's way through the top part of the village's main street then went off into farmland, we were fortunate in my street, just a lot of wind and broken branches, I know some houses were moved off their stumps and roofs were pulled off, power out for hours and both ends of the village cut off, no one could come in or out. I was planning to drive to Brisbane that day to their annual Quilt Show, but it was wet, so I decided against it and stayed home, glad I did, as I would not have been able to get to my house once I'd return in the early evening!
Your vintage quilt looks very interesting, lots of lovely fabrics in it, good for a study group discussion!
Pills and pets, yes well, what an ongoing battle that is LOL! The cat is fine, one of the dogs of sort of ok, but Her Royal Highness, definitely no go!!!!
Tia the 'sort of' one, I crush the pill and mix it in with a very small portion of her meal - a couple of tablespoons, once she had devoured that I give her the rest of the untainted food. She's such a guts that she can't help herself. HRH, is another matter!!!! (she'd go without just to prove a point), the vet had to give her a slow acting antibiotic injection, to save the day, but I have used icecream with a crushed pill mixed, the icecream is quite cold on her tongue she didn't detect the tainting, but she soon woke up to that over timeLOL, hence the injections now. Fortunately the worming tablets are tasty and chewable, because that would be another battle!!!! I have also crushed a pill and diluted the powder with a tiny bit of water and sucked it into an old syringe and squirted it into their mouths side on between their teeth, they just end up swollowing the liquid - but it may require someone else to gently hold them still while you do this! Best of luck, hope they both continue to do well!!!!!

I've bought more than one regret quilt/top ;-)
If you don't love it soon, I'm sure it will fine a good home at AQSG.
I wrap the pills in thin luch meet, inbetween a couple pieces sans pill....sneaks it right in.
Good Luck!!

maybe this will help...i crush the tablet and then mix it with 'sticky' cheese (those triangle ones) or cream cheese and then smear it on the cats paw...they just HAVE to lick it off!
