How hot is it?

Weather just seems bad all over this week...floods and fires, high winds and high temps...stay safe everyone!

Our temps here in Georgia went into triple digits yesterday and are expected to again today.  Blahhhh.  Even my cat Dobby doesn't want to go outside.  I have to get up just as the sun rises to an prod Mac, my Scottish  Terrier,  to wake up and go for his walk...during the day I have to watch him when he goes out into the yard as he has had two heat incidents in the past and as he gets older these incidents can be more dangerous.  So how hot is it on the early morning walk?  This morning when we came in from our walk Dobby, who walks with us, sat in my dog's water bowl...

So how am I dealing with the heat?  Well, we bought a couple of watermelons and lots of peaches last week at the farmers market.  I made enough pasta salad and got in other salad stuff so I don't have to cook for a few more days.  Mostly I sew....

Now that the batik care quilt is finished I can get back to my Corn and Bean blocks...very bright and cheerful.  I'm going to make a small quilt using the 4-1/2 inch blocks.  Then I may make a bed size quilt with the 6 inch blocks....I'm playing with different layouts too.

I also have an applique project that I hope to finish this week...can't believe it is taking me so long!  And I started a little quilt for the Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative.

It used the little bits of leftovers from the cutting table and measures 9x10-1/2.  I'm hand quilting it.  I hope to finish it this week.  If the heat index stays high I may just finish a lot of projects!

I ran my errands at the crack o' dawn this morning and was home by 8:30 when it was 85F... I've stayed inside since...

Love your bright and cheery corn-and-beans blocks... very nice... and very tempting!

Hot here in FL too, but y'all are hotter...this is just crazy...I think the whole weather world has gone crazy. Love your corn and beans. Oh I laughed and laughed at the vision of your kitty in the water bowl. Too funny!

I sure hope the triple digits don't last too long! The only one who loves the heat around here is Chipper.
I am loving your corn and beans blocks. I have trouble making that block with all those bias edges. I have to remake the one in my farmer's wife. I'm thinking of using the paper piecing method.

Hope the power stays on for the air con! We have seen some of the fire footage here in Australia, so hoping that nobody gets hurt and there is suitable weather conditions for the fire fighters to bring it under control soon.
Loving the corn and beans block the colours are great.

Great corn and beans blocks, love the bright fabrics you are using here!!! We're in winter downunder, and as much I don't like cold weather I am appreciating it because I know what our summers can be like, similiar to yours and that's no fun either!!! You've had some shocking weather events just recently, Colorado comes to mind over the past few days, such a terrible tragedy for all those people who lost their homes, and all the animals too, I hope you get some rain just to cool things off a bit!!

With this heat it is stay inside, get any errands done in the morning, and then try to sew until the sun hits the sewing room and it gets a little warm. My little dachshund doesn't stay out very long and when he comes in his coat is so warm. Take care of McTavish.

Hope you can escape the heat. What a blessing that it isn't too humid.
Love the corn and beans. Very cheery quilt.
We have 6 or 8 wildfires going around here in our state--right next to Colorado and all of their troubles.

Bleah on triple digits! Your projects look really great. Hope the mornings get a little more easy to bear even if the rest of the day is still hot!

Fun projects! This summer has been strange, hasn't it. Another hot day here in NW Indiana.

Maybe the heat will keep Dobby off the roof ;-)
Our old dog seems to have lost her internal temp guage and we have to watch her.
Love your projects - perfect summer choices.

Wow! I did not know it was so hot in Georgia. I would not have enough energy even to sew in that heat. I do pity the animals when the temps are very high, and very low.

Love your corn and beans blocks. They are so bright and cheerful.

With triple digit temps, I'm surprised you didn't sit in the dog's water bowl! Heehee. It's hotter than blazes here in Iowa too. I got on the plane in Maine in 67 degrees on Wednesday and got off in Iowa to 99 degrees!
