Border or no?

This churndash top is from the UFO box I opened yesterday.

While the Masters was on yesterday I pressed my stash of Cherrywood fabrics to see if I could piece together a border...

One option is a brick border

or a piano key...

or a crazy pieced...

or of course...no border at all...

I think putting the top in the UFO box was my way of avoiding making this decision last time!

I do think I am going to quilt this with a combination of machine and hand quilting.  I'll machine quilt it in the ditch then use some perle cotton and do some big stitch quilting in the setting triangles and the centers of the churn dash.

I like the brick border.

I like the crazy pieced or no border at all. Of all of them, I think the crazy pieced goes with the on-point setting better. And I like your idea for the quilting....sounds beautiful!

And I like the piano key border :-) Isn't Cherrywood fabric kind of amazing to play with? I have a little stash left from a couple of quilts. Rarely, I will steal a piece to put in with another quilt but mostly I leave them to play with only other Cherrywoods. The Churn Dashes are lovely.

You will get all kinds of opinions. I like the crazy pieced best. Would adding a border make the quilt more apt to be used?

Crazy piecing is so much fun!! Whatever option you choose, your quilt is lovely!

I think triangles like the setting triangles on the outside border. Gives lots of color and movement, but not too much. The echoing effect seems interesting based on the picture with the green triangle almost paired with the setting triangle.

No border. It tends to take over the quilt.

IT is so much fun to look at the blocks and the beautiful colors. I say no border!

I'm with Frog Quilter. No border unless you want it larger, then go with solid border. I think the quilt is lovely and the bold / classic quality is lost with a pieced border.

I looked at this earlier today and couldn't decide what I preferred, so I left it and came back to it tonight. I think my preference is no border. But if you want a larger quilt I think I lean toward the piano key border, but I would want some blue interspersed in it. Just MHO. : )

No border, or add blue to whichever border was my first thought! Hope you still have some. I liked the brick border initially but have to agree with those who pointed out the crazy piecing echoes the triangles in the center.

Stitchinpenny said what I was thinking! Of your choices though, I like the piano key or no border.

Like it without a border...
Or find another line of fabric that complamentes it and do a solid border with a pieced binding
