Teddy Pruitt lecture

A few weeks ago quilter, quilt historian, and appraiser Teddy Pruitt spoke at my local guild.

If you ever get a chance to hear her lecture take it!  She has great stories and wonderful quilts.
Antique String quilt...
For this lecture "From Sublime to ridiculous" Teddy showed antique or vintage quilts ant then a quilt she made that was either inspired by it or used a similar block shape within the quilts.
Teddy quilt...
A quilter who sat at my table told me "I don't usually like antique quilt talks but this one was good."  I was glad to hear that...and will sit elsewhere next lecture!

I saw Teddy's quilt when they were at The Florida Quilt Museum last spring. Loved seeing so many of her quilts in one place. I just stood up close and stared at a few of them. So much to see. The museum as well as the quilt store next door is the best way to spend a drive and a day, if you haven't found them yet in your new state. Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop, Trenton, Florida. Laughed at what the lady said about antique quilts to you. My Mother always said to be cautious of your words when in a group of people you don't know. Years ago I was in a Homemaker group, we met at the firehouse. At a potluck one night a lady sitting next to me commented to me how much she disliked a casserole she just ate, her words " the firefighters must have made it for their meal and we accidentally ate from it". No, that was my dish, I made it and brought it.
Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your new locale. Have you named the studio yet?

Sounds like a really good presentation. And sounds like you are learning things about some of your guild members. :)

Those look like some very fun quilts. So glad you're getting out and meeting more quilters.

Teddy can tell the most hilarious quilt related stories. She has that down home Georgia style of presentation. Love it!
