No fences!

My neighbors are replacing the fence around their yard which means lots of construction trucks (doing drains and gutters too...)  All this means we cannot let Watson out in the yard.

Has anyone ever dealt with a dog with depression?  They took down the fence last Friday.  So since then we have been taking him out about every 2-3 hours.  This is still not nearly as often as he went into the backyard for a quick squirrell chase.  For the first few days he was just confused...then he whimpered a lot at the door...today he isn't eating - not even bacon.

Talked with the contractor and it will be mid next week until the fence goes back up...trying to think of options.

This does link to quilting...I'm keeping him back in my sewing room most of the day since that is the furthest point from the noise.

However the likes to sit on my lap...doesn't lead to productive days.

And needless to say Dobby is really not happy the dog has taken over his space.

So in all this what is on the design wall?  My leader and ender project from 2016!  Looks a bit like fences to me...with a bit of luck the real fence will be completed before my quilt-top is!

What Terriers do...

Amazing how much one week of quilt show activities can wear you out!

Still in recovery mode...of course Watson's adventure this morning didn't help!  He and Jake the dog next door have been barking for months.  With all the rain the past week the ground was ripe for a tunneling under the fence...because that is what Terriers do...

To make a long story short...Dobby came into the quilt room in a huff...I heard the barking...tried to call Watson back but Jake couldn't decide if he wanted to play with Watson or eat Watson.  Either way he wouldn't let Watson near the fence.  So I had to go in...both dogs are ok but I'm a bit banged/bitten up.  Yikes.

That and a totally muddy bathroom from both Watson and I trying to clean-up...what a day.

When this all happened I was trying to put away my new Quilt Show acquisitions!  I bought a lot of threads, wools, and even a couple of holiday kits.  One vendor had fatquarters 20 for $25!  What a deal!  And since we don't have a local shop carrying wools I always stock up at Shakerwood Woolens and Auntie Ju's.   The stitched golf ball is from Garage Art...will make something for my husband with that!

My friend Shannon made this for her husband...

and of course we had a lot of kaffe...

Finally...I'm back!

After a tough summer I'm finally back!

It was a bad MS summer but I am recovering and getting back to quilting and blogging and all the other things I've missed doing!
Dobby is doing well and guarding the quilts!

So it shouldn't be any surprise that I am scrambling to finish some quilts for my quilt show this November!
Watson demanding face time with a vintage quilt top!

I committed to three entries but may try to finish two more...will know tomorrow afternoon if I can manage it!

I'm also still working on organizing my sewing room...still don't have it "right!"  One more big move and that will be it for awhile...need to spend more time sewing fabric than folding and moving fabric!

A top finished!

Who says making a list doesn't get you motivated?  Not me!

After thinking long and hard about the quilt show in November and my lack of any finished quilts to enter I made a plan.  And today I have my first result!

I took out the UFO box with my large 1904 applique project.

First I made sure I still had all the "parts."

Amazing how bits and pieces can go on walk-about when left sitting in a corner of the closet!  This project just needed borders.  Mitered borders.  I think I put it away when got halfway through the pieced border and decided to go with a solid piece of fabric.  Since I was mitering I also took out my go-to book by Onion Mountain.

Helps me to stay organized...even it it is only math!

Also had to do lots of pressing and measuring before any cutting...and made sure to have lots of pins handy.

Then it was simply measure, cut, sew, press and then repeat for a couple hours...boy my shoulders are sore but I have a top ready to go to the long-armer!

So one down and three more to go this month...progress feels good!

Watson "Get Day!"

One year ago today we welcomed Watson in to our lives!

He came to us from Stinkykiss Rescue group in North Augusta, S.C.  He was only bout 14 weeks old.

He was tiny and a bit underweight but came around quickly.

He has been a handful...smart but all terrier so has been difficult to train.  Just starting to come around.

He gets along well with our cats...particularly Dobby!

So here it to year one and many more with my quilting puppy!
