Craft Trail

Growing up the Adams house, which was built by John and Abigal, was only a couple miles from our house. Everytime we drove by my sisters and I would say, "some weekend we should go tour the house." To date I still have not visited it. Now this comes to mind because this is a bank holiday weekend and my friends are all talking of going to Holland, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Spain....my DH and I are going 10 miles down the road to a food festival then are going to do the craft trail around Breedon Hill which you can see from our front door. We've decided to be local tourists.

The photo at the top is of a local potter's shop, Toff Milway's Conderton Pottery. His work is beautiful and he and his wife are two of the nicest people I've met in England. His workshop is one of four that make up the Breedon hill craft trail. My DH hasn't been to any of them so this weekend we will make the curcuit and find a anniversary present for us!
Today I have to focus and get some blocks and directions made up for the Fairford group. Tomorrow we are doing baskets. Below is the Harvest Basket. We will also so the Scrap Basket and the Stamp Basket. Of course I have the directions written up for the last two which I haven't made a sample yet. The Harvest BAsket I have made a sample but have not written up the directions....focus, focus, focus! (it is a great day for a walk though.....)

Isn't it amazing how little some of us know about the town we live in. DH and I always take a day off in the middle of summer and play "tourist" in our town. It's fun! Enjoy your tourist day.

The pottery shop looks like a very nice place to visit, so warm and inviting. Enjoy your day at the food festival and exploring the area.

You're right Siobhan - I was only talking about this to Tanya in Japan this morning (on line you understnd my phone bill's not that generous) this summer we're cutting back on holiday expenditure (blame the effect on our mortgage by the regular interest rate rises here in the UK over the past year) so we're staying at home for the two weeks Nigel has booked off work and we'll pretend our house is a holiday cottage, ban any house guests and explore Somerset which is still very new to us - it's fun to play tourists

Enjoy your time as local tourists, that is a valuable thing to become as it helps when folks come to visit you! Love the basket and can't wait to see more...

Hi Sio, the bank holiday sounds perfectlly spent to me..*VBS* A great outing, but you get to sleep at home.
I love the block you are going to teach, it has a down home, but elegant look while not being too diffcult to piece.
Have to tell you I really smiled at your post about asparagus...LOL
I purchased the Ruth McDowell book this past winter(Hamiliton Book online) and love the pieced veggies.
I also snagged a copy of one of hers called "When Quilters Gather", which is just amazing. Even if I never do anything from the book,it's greateye candy and lots of fabrics I've never seen. Enjoy your pottery trip! Hugs, Finn

What fun to play tourist in your own area. DH and I haven't had funds to go away (other than trips to visit family) but we haven't really taken advantage of our local events either. Thanks for the reminder to "look in my own backyard" as Dorothy would say.
