One more quilt

It is late and my legs are too jumpy for me to sleep. Now I just have to wait for the meds to kick in so I thought I would use my wait-time to post the last of the vintage quilts from Beech Island.

This one has some fun materials in it...check out the pink-ish striped border fabric! The piecing is really well done but the quilting is very rough. Makes you wonder if perhaps they were done by two different people. Unfortunatley the owner doesn't have any information about the quilts. This one was found in her aunt's closet and was being claimed as a bed by the house cat!

I love this pattern but it isn't one I'm rushing to try and reproduce...I save my curved seams for the Drunkard Path. (Which I had been told was called Rocky Road to Dublin....)

I am almost finished costume duty for this year. Tomorrow I just have to make a pair of capri pants then box the costume up and get it in the mail so it will be in New Mexico for what seems like a week-long Halloween celebration!

That is nice of you to make all those costumes. I've always liked that pattern in the antique quilt, but don't really see making it myself either. The list is so long :-).

I just a quilt with this pattern on Sewing with Nancy yesterday. It's called Hearts and Gizzards. The guest on the show has created a way to make this design and Drunard's Path without doing curves. Very clever and very pretty.

I could look at antique quilts forever! I just love seeing the different fabrics and quilting used in them. I am currently hand quilting a top that was pieced by my great grandmother and I just love it. The piecing is far from perfect but at that time it was made more for warmth than the looks! Have a wonderful day!

I have four blocks of this pattern made, but it hasn't progressed in 10 years. I love that scrap colour scheme though, that might inspire me get started again.

Costume Sewing? Wouldn't know how to. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I love this Hearts and Gizzards quilt, and didn't realize the pattern was so old. I remember one from my childhood that my mother made in navy blue, red and off-white wool. I think some of the fabric was from my dad's navy uniforms. I don't know what ever happened to that quilt...probably got "used up"! Louise
