On to the next UFO!

Can hardly believe it but my April UFO goal is already a top!  So I am debating working on a second one...

This one isn't going to be as fast!  I made lots of these little 5 inch random pieced squares at one point.  I made a table runner out of some and some coasters out of others.  These are the remainders...the "rule" is when I open a UFO box/bag I either finish it, donate it either as a finished project or UFO, or I toss it.  No putting it back into the pile...
Checkerboards is now a top!  Even have a top pieced for it...

I'm also busy washing fabric to piece backs.  One of my least favorite parts of quilting...such big pieces to iron then pin then push through the sewing machine and then press again...One down and three to go.  I've washed the fabrics. Still lots of work to do!

We are dealing with some extreme weather here in Georgia today...thunderstorms, hail and potential tornados!  I hate tornados!
A pixelated photo of Dobby I was thinking of using for a quilt...

It has been really wet this week. Last night Dobby hadn't come home at his usual 7 pm curfew.  About 9 we went out to look for him.  We found him next to our deck covered in mud...totally covered!  Had to get him into the bathtub...he isn't a big fan of baths.  Anyway, he has some scratches but nothing too serious.  The only blood flowing was mine...

He is in his safe and quiet place recovering....

Your checkerboard is BEAUTIFUL!! I quit letting my cats out when one got hit by a car. :-( My current boy gets to go out on the patio while I supervise..small bits of time to enjoy the sun.

Your setting triangles for Checkerboard really set the blocks off with a flare! Love it, Sio!
I do hope you don't get caught in the worst of the weather. When I saw last night's weather report, I wondered if you would be affected. Praying for you!

I echo Janet about the setting triangles--Wonderful! Congrats on getting some quality time in on those pesky UFOs. My cat would probably rip my skin to the bone if I tried to give her a bath! Poor Dobby.

It won't help for this time, but the best advice I ever got for bathing a cat was to take an old window screen (the old metal ones), lean it in your sink or tub and set the cat on that. The cat's claws will grip onto the screen and if you keep a hand on his neck and wash him with your other hand, he'll stay and you won't be scratched. We did it frequently when we had outdoor cats years ago and it worked a charm. Now all six of our babies are indoor cats, so we very rarely have to wash them, thank goodness!

The checkerboard quilt is to my liking. Well done.
I donate some of my UFO's to other quilters or the local church thrift store. I need to do that now but some of those UFO's keep calling my name. I do like your rule.
