Trying to find something in the closet in my quilting room is akin to an archeological dig...the things I find. I was searching for binding that I made when I finished a quilt top. That I finished the top two moves ago puts it in the "ancient history" file. It was a long shot but as I really dislike making binding and don't have any of the fabric left on the shelf I thought the expedition would be worth the trouble.
Well I didn't find the binding but I did unearth two UFO's that may work for my Silent Auction donation for our October show. This little broken dishes quilt is about 24 inches square and was stitched by hand. I think I made this around 1998! Should be ready to be quilted now...
This Christmas wallhanging or table runner was made around the same time. The pattern was in a magazine (my apologies for not giving credit to the designer...not intentional.)
If I baste one of these they could go onto the top of the hand-quilting pile and could be finished in time for the show. Which do you think I should work on?
(This is the look both Mac and my Dh get when I talk about finishing quilts...do you think the Dog Whisperer could train both of them to stop rolling their eyes?)!

That dog is soooooo funny!
Love the little quilts. The Christmas in July theme could prompt the angel one and then maybe you'll just be in the groove to continue on with the broken dishes. Nice little surprise from your dig.
And 'no' I don't think Cesar can stop that eye rolling. Animals know us too well. He sure is cute though!
One thing I love about quilting is you don't have to finish what you start at least right away. You can finish it later.
I would finish the Christmas one (because if it was me it would take me til Christmas to finish it LOL). Love the broken dishes one though it's lovely.
My husband does the eye-rolling when I talk about quilts in this house!!!
I like the angel piece best!
It is done the worse for waiting -I love the blues in your BD little quilt. Very pretty.
Those quilts are really pretty. Your dog is so cool!!
Both are lovely; but I bet folks will covet the Christmas one more -one less thing to do around Christmas!
if you figure out how to get MacBeth to quit rolling his eyes, PLEASE post about it - sometimes i think people around here are gonna throw their eye sockets out of whack if they don't stop with the rolling!
Oh, I believe Cesar could do ANYTHING he wanted with any dog, I just wish he could make my daughters stop doing it...LOL! I think the broken dishes has aged sufficiently and deserves to be finished first, just IMHO.
Don't you just love the expressions dogs have. My DH can't read them, but I sure can. That little broken dish quilt is just too cute. I'd finish that one first. I know what you mean when you say you find all sorts of things when you dig in those closets. i've been finishing things that have been around way too long, since I cleaned mine.
They are both nice. I really like the colors in the broken dishes. Maybe if you machine quilt, you can get them both done.
Love the expression, Mac!
Sio, I love them both and I giggle as I go on this archeological dig. I'm a non-voter, non-decider type gal on this one for the Silent Auction but I surely could see the Broken Dishes over here at LeeHaven. Wish I could auction "in" on that one. Imagining it against my deep pumpkin walls.
No Shame, *karendianne.
Great to find quilt tops just needing to be quilted - timely find in order for you to finish one for the auction! Perfect sizes too. I think they are both really nice! For wall hanging size quilts I like to sew little round drapery tie-backs on the back so people can hang them up... just a thought if you decide to go with the Broken Dishes one.
The triangles is my favorite...finish that one!
Don't you love how expressive both dogs and husbands can be without even saying a word?
I vote for finishing the Broken Dishes. I get the eye roll around here too. I wonder if I give an eye roll when the car talk starts? Or maybe I just get a glazed expression.
