The first quilt is my King Size Log Cabin. This is the largest quilt I have ever made! (Hangs past the bottom of the matress on a King size bed) I made this using a large basket of 1-1/2 inch strips that I cut out of odd ends of repros and from repros that didn't quite "read" right to me. It was quilted by Judy Lockhart with Batptist Fans. The blocks were my leaders and enders (re Bonnie Hunter) and were next to my sewing machine for at least two years. I still have a small pile of blocks and a large basket of strips.....
The second finish is (wait for it.....) the #@%& red, white and blue quilt for my DH. It is finished...it is truely finished (apologies to Sally Field....) This small quilt has been over SIX years in the making! My Dh saw a quilt like this in one of my antique quilt books and said he would like one. Since this was the first quilt he showed any intest in I immediately pulled fabrics. He then selected one red, one blue and asked for a solid white. Say what? Well because it took so long to get to the border I had to add two more fabrics. Bonnie quilted in an all over pattern and I put the binding on last night watching "Gran Torino."Can you say DONE! (Happy Dance......)
Now back to watching the morning news and pinning down binding on the Double Delight....

Great job! Two finishes! I can hardly believe that huge Log Cabin quilt is from leaders/enders. That is fantastic! I don't know if I could stick with something that long. I absolutely love DH's quilt. It turned out great! I have wanted to do that pattern in a quilt for ages. I saw the Goose in the Pond block demonstrated by Billie Lauder on an episode of Simply Quilts. I fell in love with it then. I will make it someday...someday.
Woohoo! Doing the happy dance with you to have both of those quilts finished! That king size log cabin is quite the accomplishment. You may almost feel as though you'd lost a limb with the red white and blue job done ;- )
Both quilts are stunning! You must sew faster than I do because it would take me a LOT longer to handstitch a binding on a twin size quilt than just one movie. Unless it was the Lord of Rings Trilogy! Great job!
Great quilts! Good job. I like them both but the red/white/blue is fantastic.
It takes me about 6 hours to hand bind a twin size. You must know something I don't.

You are getting lots done- Your husband's quilt is gorgeous and so is the king size log cabin. What along time it would have taken to complete that quilt with 1 and a half inch strips. That is a lot of logs.

I think getting a twin size quilt bound during one movie is great! It seems to take me forever to sew those bindings down by hand. Your quilts are wonderful!
Once you start making scrappy log cabin blocks... well, you just never can stop! I like your DH's quilt - it is a favorite old block pattern of mine too, even if it isn't scrappy (grin). You sure do sew bindings on fast - either that you watch long movies! Great to have 2 done, done, done! Lovely finishes.
Well, I think you are amazingly fast...it would take me several movies to get a large quilt binding sewn down. Perhaps because it is one of my favorite parts...and I like movies :-) I guess I'm not in much of a rush.
The quilts are gorgeous and I'm sure DH says it was worth the wait for the beautiful r,b,&w.

I'm so impressed -- you even got me moving again on bindings and I got another one machine stitched on today that's just waiting for the hand stitching ....and we watched the same movie last night!

Doesn't it feel great to get those bindings finished? I do believe I remember the quilt for your DH at Hickory Knob a few years back....they are both beautiful and I love the leaders and enders for a log cabin! Would never have thought to do that.
Wonderful job getting those UFOs to "finally done". What is the acronym for a finished project? I guess there isn't one! I loved Gran Torino but man, there were a lot of racial slurs I had never heard before and hope I never do again...pretty intense film but very very good. Your DH should be thrilled to receive a nice warm quilt in July. I know mine was!
