Antique Textile talk
This morning I went to a lecture on antique textiles an appraisals at a local antique gallery. A nice way to spend a saturday morning! A few folks brought in some interesting pieces...mainly samplers and woven coverlets but a few quilts. The photo is of one that I really liked. It is a solid green and off-white with a double pink sashing and border. I'm not sure which block came first..did she start with the wonky ones and get better or start with the perfect blocks and then go nuts! I'm not sure the appraiser really cared for it (she looked at me funny when I asked the owner for permission to take the photo) but I thought it was a hoot!
It was nice to go to one of these and get to sit down and listen. I was very well behaved and only spoke up twice. (Major self control for me! When old quilts are around my mouth tends to run like racecar engine!) The woman was very gracious however and gave a lot of publicity for the exhibit at the Augusta Museum of History that I worked on so maybe some of the folks there will also go to the museum.

I'd sure like to pick the mind of that quilter. LOL!!! I'll be giggling about that quilt for the rest of the day!
Oh this pink and green quilt is so much fun! I love it! I made a quilt once from a picture of an antique amish star quilt. It made me so happy I had to reproduce it, changes in color of fabric and everything. I"ll have to see if I ever posted about it. Hmmm
It was soooo nice to run into you today. I wanted to tell you, the best thing I liked about where you are moving to, is the weather. I had more energy when I was there in May, than I have had in a long time. My family could not believe it. Hot weather is the worst for us, but that cool weather made me feel like the Engergizer Bunny again. Now that you remember who I am, keep in touch, via email if you want, and if you EVER need company in your new country, let me know, and I will hop right on over...I loved it there...
Found it! I did share it, long, long ago. It is on my blog under September 26th - labeled Star Quilt for Finn! Check it out!
I have been thinking about this quilt all day. I love it, ugly isn't always unlovable.
I vote for "started out perfect, got bored, then had some fun - wheeeeeeee." Sounds like a fun event - wish I coulda been there.
I LOVE IT!!!! i am sitting here just laughing! *hehehehe* Quilts that make you go hmmmmmmm! We have to remember, that this was before the era where women ever THOUGHT of burning their bras..what a better way to make a statement than to quilt outside the 'norm'!! It's GREAT!
