Another finish!

Yes, more 1930's reproduction fabric from the same dark corner of the closet! I think I won the blocks at a guild raffle several years (and states!) ago. Setting blocks like these can be a challange. There isn't any one color to tie them together and the needed something to break up the white. I opted for varied sashings with yellow cornerstones (but different yellows!) There is a double border with 4-patch cornerstones on the outside. The quilt top is starting to grow on me.

The weather turned brutally hot today. I am not a hot weather person at all! Worse I wasn't prepared at all! During the summer I almost always leave the house with a fozen bottle of water in my bag or car. More often it is used as a cold compress than to drink. Since it is early in the season I'm not back in the habit yet so today was tough.

I'm hoping to get a few hours of sewing in tomorrow. I guess it finally dawned on my DH that we needed to do some work around the house before moving (shock and awe!!) so I'm sure I will not get near my quilting room on Saturday or Monday!

Hope you get used to the heat soon, it's supposed to be a hot summer 'down heah' lol

The quilt is very nice - sometimes BOM's are not only different colors but weird sizes too.

Siobhan - I love the different sashings - it looks so effective. Sometimes we're all programmed to go down the usual route of picking a common fabric to tie eveything together for sashings and as you say with so many different fabrics in the blocks you can't always do them justice with just one fabric. This is areally neat solution - one to be stored away for future use I think

Wow, does that yummy yellow really look sharp on your quilt!

Siobhan...I've always loved that name by the way...this quilt is really pretty. There's just something about the clear crisp white and all those lovely 30's colors. Pastel-ish but yet not too soft.

The yellow really sets this off, great choice!

30's fabric tends to be very whimsy, so I think you hit a home run with color choices in yor settings. I am glad it is growing on you because I think it is a great quilt top- even if it isn't something you would do, yourself. Sorry about the heat wave. My feet are freezing- figure we'll lose the chill in the air, soon. Blowing some cool air your way!

Have you investigated the neck coolers that they make these days? I've just heard they're big with golfers around here (so you gotta be able to find them there). A friend says they work really well at keeping you cool - try it out. Good thing you will be getting out of that heat soon.

I love the scrappy sashings on this one, it really does tie them together! It was seeing this top a couple years ago at guild that inspired me to use scrappy plaid sashings to tie together plaid ohio star swap blocks for the same reason..your quilt was the inspiration.

It has got HOT HOT HOT AFRICA HOT here so fast too! I just want to stay in front of the a/c!
