On this Memorial Day I remember my Dad who flew PBY's for the US Navy during World War II. I grew up hearing his stories of attending flight schools around the south, landing in New Orleans and listening to live Jazz for the first time, landing at Pensacola only to find his gas tanks totally empty, and working with a Red Sox baseball legend (Ted Williams) to make sure he passed ground school.
I also spent this morning catching up on my Civil War block of the week...boy had I fallen behind! I made three...
which only leaves two more to make me current.
It is way too hot to be outside today...I did get a few photos of the pink daylillies that bloomed this morning. The bloom measures almost 6 inches across!

Love your daylily... I was out taking photos of mine this morning before it got too hot... not that it was cool at 8am...
Too hot? That sounds lovely. We visited cemeteries in the snow today--I never remember that happening before. We built snowmen on the graves of three family members that we thought would appreciate them. I may post pictures on my blog later today.

Your Civil War blocks are just beautiful. It was so neat to hear about your father - I love old stories like that, what great memories you must have. And that day lily - wowzer how big and beautiful, must be all that hot humid weather that helps them get so big.
I am wayyy behind on the CW blocks. At this point, I'm just printing the directions and adding them to the pile. Yours look great!

I haven't been reading your posts in a while, but you were up in my neck of the woods recently--how exciting.
I'm planning to go to the PEM soon to see the Dutch Masterpieces. I love Salem and I'm from the South Shore and Boston originally. BTW, the warm weather has finally arrived, you can come back anytime soon! LOL
