I decided I needed to make two more rows on the "Candy Ribbon" (AKA Smith mountain) quilt. I had it laid out on the floor and it just didn't look right as a square quilt.
No problem...it isn't as if I had cleaned off the cutting table or anything...Also, I made an extra red star and an extra setting block. Just warning if you decide to do this with four colors it multiply the confusion level of this quilt 10x! After a few sessions of laying out the blocks I realized I needed a plan that I could follow each time...even with it I ended up with two "bonus" blocks!
As far as the border goes I'm thinking of using the HST and making sort of a ribbon around the edge.
It goes with the quilt "theme" and it uses a block from the quilt. Which not surprisingly I have a large stack of already made. What do ya'll think?

You may have made things more complicated for yourself but the end result is worth it, the colours make a stunning impact. I really like the border as well, always wanted to try one of those!

You have worked magic with this pattern. I have always loved it, but your 4 cheery colors give it a whole new dimension (and I can see how much more complicated the assembly would be).

this is beautiful...bright, cheery, and fun. I would love to try this with 4 fabrics but now you've got me thinking about how difficult it could be. Maybe I'll just enjoy yours for now!!

Oh yes...that is the perfect border for this beauty! I've started taking a digital picture every time I lay out something. I can't remember s--- these days. I can remember what I was wearing at a dance in junior high, but can't remember how I laid out 12 simple blocks.
