When it comes to quilting it seems like I alternate between start-it years and finish-it years...this will be a finish it year.
So what is on the docket? I picked out 12 quilts that are in various stages of work-in-process. They range from just needing binding to a half pieced mystery quilt and every stage in between. I thought that would keep me from getting bored and hopefully keep me from starting too many new projects. I know I wrote too many...it would be like telling a person on a diet they could not even sniff a bit of chocolate if you told me no new projects!
Drum-roll please....
1. 1930's scrappy trip around the world...this only needs binding. It was on my 2011 list! I need to dump my angst about what color to bind it with and just finish this one in January! How old is this quilt? I started it when I was living in England....ouch!
2. Seaglass - quarter log cabin: All set to machine quilt.
3. Material Obsession - All set to machine quilt
4. I plan to hand quilt the Charleston Basket using a perl cotton and a big stitch. I still have to piece the backing....
Ribbon Candy
5. Ribbon Candy will be machine quilted. I need to piece the backing and decide on the quilting design.
Russian Sunflower
6. Russian Sunflower. I plan on hand quilting this small quilt. I have the quilting design all planned out and have it pressed and ready to mark. The backing and the wool batt is ready!
7. Last year's Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt, Orca Bay, is all ready to be machine quilted. (no photo)
8. Crayon Rows...not sure if I am going to handquilt this small quilt using a big stitch or if I am going to machine quilt it....
Carnival Corn
9. Carnival Corn...think I am going to machine quilt this one...this was based on a vintage top I bought at auction up in South Carolina. You can tell I pieced this one about the same time as Crayon Rows!
Easy Street
10. Easy Street is the quilt in pieces on the cutting table....
Teddington Stars
11. Teddington Stars was also made while I lived in England. I want to put a border on it so it has languished in the "what next" pile of UFO's....sometimes you just have to start sewing!
12. Guild Donation Quilt....this is in the very early stages so no photos yet!
So 12 projects made the list and there are 12 months in a year - great symmetry but somehow I doubt I will stick to finishing one a month...more likely I will finish one in the first 6 months and 6 in the month prior to my guild's show! But I can hope....

At least you have a plan, and I got a chuckle at you estimation of what the reality will be.
So many great quilts here. I need to follow your example, but I'm still not sure I'm ready to choose my 2013 goals. What am I waiting for? Don't have an answer for that. : )
This was the push I needed! I'm making a list of all of my ufo's, and will commit them to my blog. Maybe with it staring me in the face all year, I'll get to them! (Maybe!) Thanks for the push!
Lovely UFOs that deserve finishing up... have fun with them!
(I need to do this too but first... I need to clean up/straighten up my sewing room.)
gorgeous lineup....i'll be happy to cheer you on!
You can finish one per month, especially since most of them have the majority of the work already done. You can do it. Write one of them on the 1st of each of the months on the calendar, so it is there in writing to do. You can do it.
Great idea to take 12 UFO's and ear mark them for finishing in the following year. I'll stand by and watch and root root you on your way :o)
Great sentiment 'sometimes you just have to start sewing', I had decided my motto for next year would be 'just do it'! So we are thinking along the same lines. Love your idea of 12 UFOs I'm sure you will have success with all of us cheering you on.:)
Great selection of quilts. I'd take any of them off your hands. Especially ribbon candy. I may have to make that one.
You CAN DO THIS!!! Liz
Very ambitious of you but I'll bet you get them done! Don't forget to show them off! Love Crayon Row!
I admire your ambition. What about a plain white or print with a lot of white for the scrappy trip quilt. Simple, blend-able, easy!
you've made some really beautiful quilt tops. Amazingly, I even love the 30's quilt (maybe cuz it doesn't look sweet pastel 30's). Bind it in Red! I would be way too embarrassed to admit to all mine in progress...
I will be routing you on!!!
one a month is a good goal

Oh such beautiful quilts! I wouldn't be able to decide which to get done first :)
Totally gorgeous stack of quilts in waiting! I vote for putting that binding on first for a fast finish. Dark blue, maybe?
OK, here's a (not very original) suggestion: quilt with your credit card, i.e., send a few of the quilt tops to a long arm quilter. I am told I am prolific, but if truth be told, I have a wonderful long arm quilter from my guild on speed dial! Seriously, I send her my very best quilts for spectacular custom jobs (not cheap, I admit) as well as utility quilts for an all-over pantograph. I don't hand quilt and only machine quilt smallish quilts.
Wow! Lots of pretty quilts. You had a year to be proud of! I shoot for one a month, but in reality I go months and months with nothing finished at all, then several finished in rapid succession. I have enjoyed reading your blog this year, and look forward to seeing what you get up yo next year.
I love lists, so good for you, a list and a plan is a start in the right direction! Just adore the crayon quilt, was that a commercial pattern?
Imagine a finish a month! Could we do it??? Bit like the movie Julie & Julia that I've just seen... fancy a challenge LOL.
Love your projects - you are epic. Of course I particularily love your Candy corn as I started one after seeing yours (er..um... no it's languishing I am afraid!!)
I don't feel so bad when I see your UFO's LOL!! At least I'm in good company, I wish you well in your completions! When you see a line up like that you realise just how much work actually gets done, (.....and how much there is left to do!....)!!!! All the very best for 2013!!!!
