Working on clearing up a lot of half finished project this weekend but couldn't resist starting something new...
I go this crib quilt a week or so ago. It is in poor condition but I like the general layout and since the piecing is fairly easy thought it would be a good one to reproduce.
So far so good...the first decision: to make it how it may have looked originally or to use neutral fabrics and go up no more than a shade than it is now. The latter was very tempting - I was thinkin g of how cool this could look made up with some double shot cottons and some of the new grays. As expected however I decide to try to use repro fabrics circa 1870...or earlier.
The cats have been a bit uneasy without Macbeth...Brownie waited by the front door all night. I've never had a cat "grieve" before...hopefully she will recover soon.

The quilt is lovely. Thinking of you and hoping you, the kitties and your DH are better day by day.
So sorry about Macbeth. I lost my 19 year old dog a few years ago and it was like loosing a child. Lots of cherished memories has made it easier but I still miss her. Time will help but he will always be in your heart. Be thankful for the love her gave you.
That is such a lovely find & it is so cool that you plan to replicate it,
Your kitties must be confused. Perhaps they will mourn, in a way?
So hard to lose a friend...even for cats...my little one would look around for the longest time if I said Chester...wishing you sweet memories of your dear boy...
I'm so sorry to that MacBeth had crossed the Rainbow Bridge... I know you all (kitties included) are grieving.
Staying busy is also my way of dealing with difficult times... and reproducing the charming baby quilt is such a great idea!
(((Hugs)))
What a fabulous old quilt!!! I can see that it would have been rather beautiful when it was first made!! I think it is a very fitting way to keep your mind busy, can't wait to see your interpretaton of it!!
I'm sure the cats do feel that something is not right, they would have known he wasn't well too, they'll look for him now and again for a while, then come to accept that he won't be returning..Take care...
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on the new/old quilt. Pets to the kitties.
What a great quilt--can't wait to see how your version turns out. Keeping busy is a good idea.
Cats do miss those that have been regulars in their lives, don't they--even when those regulars are dogs.
Hope the kitties adjust to life with out Macbeth. I love the idea of reproducing the little quilt. Hugs.
I love this quilt. the colors are so soft. and I like the blue corners.
so sad to see brownie looking for her old friend. Hope she perks up in the next few days.
If it fits, it ships!
