I've been digging through the vintage fabric and quilt top piles looking for candidates to bring to the American Quilt study Group Seminar this weekend in Lincoln. I want to avoid checking a bag so bringing a quilt may not be an option. A top however I can fit even into my carry-on bag!
The roundtable discussion I signed up for is on plaids. I have several quilts that would be great for this but tops..not so much. The top in the photo above was at the bottom of a large pile. I hadn't seen it in ages! The blocks are around 6 inches (give or take a 1/2 inch!)
Of course I could just add a couple of these Dove in the Window blocks with the printed plaids to add some variety....
I also went through some of the vintage fabrics I've gathered through the years just in case I needed to do some restoration on one of my quilts. Some of these have sat in the box for over 20 years!
With Dobby on guard duty I know I'll have that fabric when I need it!
So now you see why this packing has taken me so long!

I haven't seen many plaids in the vintage quilts around here. Those are so cool! What an interesting roundtable that will be.
Dobby looks very serious about this responsibility!
You have a treasure there! Love those blocks. Will look forward to hearing more about plaids!
Great quilt top! Love the browns and reds and that green and red border. Terrific. Dobby is on duty, for sure :)
Great blocks in both the top and the Dove in the window pile! I almost never use plaids. But I see they can add a lot of interest so maybe I should.
Wonderful blocks for the plaid discussion group. Must be fun to dig through and find so many treasured blocks/top in your sewing room. Enjoy your friends.
You really have some marvelous treasures tucked away. Thanks for sharing and have a great trip.
What great old fabrics you have! I love the red! The quilt top is beautiful. Dobby looks serious about guarding those fabrics! My cats know when the suitcases come down, that I'm leaving... makes it hard to get packing done!
What lovely treasures you have! I'd say after twenty years it's time for them to come up for some air. Old friends and old treasures, fun to play with.
I love the fabric patterns in that first photograph with the double pink. And it was very validating to see that I am not the only piecer who sometimes chops off her points!
Dove Window Blocks - new to me. Excited to see.
You do have a lot of quilts to choose from. If I were in your shoes, I would be out if my mind just by choosing one to bring. They all look great to me.
